GENERAL DESCRIPTION - PURPOSE OF ROLE:
The Distribution Center Freight Clerk is responsible for verifying and maintaining records of outgoing shipments and preparing them for shipment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
* Compares identifying information and counts of outgoing shipments to verify information against orders or other records.
* Create primary bills of ladings for orders printed the previous night.
* Set shipping schedule by contacting truck lines to schedule pick-ups.
* Communicate with Customer Service on Bill of Lading corrections, obtaining freight charges when not provided.
* Create pallet labels for shipment.
* Maintain shipping log and order register files.
* Monitor order staging racks to determine if orders are still valid.
* Maintain open order fill which includes checking orders with past due dates.
* Assure orders and shipping quantities match through careful audit of said documents.
* Checking in all inbound and outbound delivery drivers.
* Creates and maintains all shipping documents.
* Receives all inbound and outbound packages while maintaining paperwork accuracy.
* Monitors and maintains the scrap program.
* Assist operations in the recycle program.
* Maintain a clean, safe work environment that promotes associate safety and product integrity.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Minimum of 1-2 year's experience in a warehouse/inventory setting
* Possess strong analytical and mathematical skills
* High School diploma or GED
* Ability to efficiently and effectively manage time and carry out orders.
* Strong interpersonal skills, positive attitude and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels
* Ability to read, write and understand English
* Must be self-motivated with the ability to work independently with a team and in a fast paced environment
PREFERRED SKILLS, COMPETENCIES AND EXPERIENCE:
* Working knowledge of WMS/RF scanning technology
* Ability to read and interpret documents such as SOP's, BOL's and safety documents
* Understands the importance of safety and quality
* Detail oriented and able to multi-task
* Knowledge of Microsoft Office
* Previous forklift experience preferred
* 1 to 2 years previous SAP experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
