Provides safe, competent nursing care for patients in accordance with facility policies, standards, and philosophy. Provides professional leadership and support to the healthcare team. Qualifications

1. ACCS:

1. Prefer one year full time or three years part time experience in acute care setting.
2. CCRN, TNCC and Cardiovascular certification preferred for specialty units.
3. 100% score on medication test - employee will have two chances to pass exam with remediation material available.
4. BLS until ACLS is obtained
5. ACLS completion within three (3) months after hire or promotion.
6. Must pass EKG, Blood Gas Analysis and BKAT exam with a score of 85% upon completion of didactic/computer orientation program - employee will have two chances to pass exams with remediation material available. **Experienced critical care nurses may test out of didactic/computer orientation with a score of 85% on the Blood Gas Analysis and BKAT exam.
7. Satisfactory return demonstration of competencies required for critical care specific processes and equipment.
8. **Employment is dependent on passing above exams and competencies.

1. Ability to read and write in English
2. Ability to communicate with patients, families, staff, physicians, support agencies, vendors, and others.
3. Ability to remain calm during stressful situations
4. Ability to respond to pages
5. Ability to evaluate and interpret information and make independent decisions.
6. Ability to repeatedly twist, squat and stoop.
1. Bending, lifting (minimum of 25 pounds), grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing, and pulling.
2. Exposure to infectious organisms, agents, and toxic chemicals
3. On call shift coverage as required by department.
