Description
We require the services of an Electrical Inspector to inspect ramp metering systems, CCTV systems, electrical systems, highway advisory radio (HAR) systems, communication Systems --to establish structural soundness. The Electrical Inspector will identify environmental hazards. You will inspect existing structures requiring upgrades and repairs. You will liaise with stakeholders regarding remedial action as well.
To ensure success in this role, you will apply your knowledge of engineering fundamentals and safety regulations to ensure the soundness of building structures. Top candidates will be of unimpeachable integrity, detail-oriented, and assertive.
You will have the ability to work independently and perform duties in the construction field office. To effectively make minor decisions concerning work in progress and solving field and office problems. The Electrical Inspector will work under the direction of a Senior Resident Engineer, and will assume the following functional responsibilities:
Perform quality assurance inspections to achieve compliance with contract plans and specifications on the electrical work installation work.
Perform quantity calculations and measurement for progress pay estimates and keep daily project records.
Perform calculations and measurement of electrical components.
Perform design for minor changes and make design estimates for contract change orders.
Ability to communicate with the RE, Project Manager, Principal Assistant Resident Engineer, field personnel, public outreach personnel, and the construction administration staff.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of 5 years of relevant electrical inspection and management experience on highway construction projects is required.
Proficient in the use of computer application programs Word and Excel.
Ideally you will have:
Knowledge of intelligent transportation system (ITS) elements such as ramp metering systems, CCTV systems, electrical systems, highway advisory radio (HAR) systems, communication Systems (wireless, hardwire & fiber-optics), changeable message signs, vehicle detection systems, traffic signal systems, transit signal priority, emergency vehicle priority, etc.
Knowledge of construction practices, physical characteristics and properties of roadway, structures, drainage and utility systems construction materials, and the approved methods and equipment used in making physical tests of construction materials.
