This positions objective is to provide Becton Dickinson and Co. (BD) a conduit to shed light into clinicians healthcare settings. This will be achieved by fostering smooth uptakes and transitions to BD products. The US Region MSL will also address any foreseen and unforeseen challenges that may occur in molecular diagnostics and infectious diseases. The candidate will work closely with the VP of Medical Affairs- IDS, Medical Director of Medical Affairs - IDS, MA (MEDICAL AFFAIRS) managers and associates as well as the MA (MEDICAL AFFAIRS) call center at the regional level to exchange all impactful scientific insights, competitive intelligence, hot topics, capture ideas, requirements, product materials and any other relevant piece of information about the product or services it offers. These insights mentioned earlier are gathered from key opinion leaders (KOLs) and organizations to be communicated to key internal teammates/cross functional partners with the main purpose of developing the working strategy, goals, and objectives for the fiscal year in reference. The MSL (Medical Science Liaison) is encouraged to lead or collaborate on publishing scientific abstracts and manuscripts in peer reviewed journals. This authorship collaboration is subject to the current unfilled data needs of the product and the Medical Affairs contributions to it via Phase 4/IIS Studies.
In this role you will be responsible for:
Functional Responsibilities:
* MSL fosters the exchange of clinical information to raise disease state and product awareness among healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and laboratory professionals.
* Works as BDs Institutional Representative to execute educational presentations and objectives pertinent to our Business Unit IDS
* Heightens awareness of disease management practices and guidelines to our healthcare provider and external partners.
* Develops education and training programs to HCP (Healthcare Professionals) audiences on BD product requirements for specimen collection, product offerings and result interpretation.
* Improves clinician education and engagement through educational and clinical support.
* Addressing unsolicited off-label questions from the field.
* The MSL is strongly encouraged to work on manuscript development and editing.
* Uncovers and shares competitive intelligence in a timely and appropriate manner.
* The role will include up to 60% US travel with potential overseas travel.

* MD

required
* 5 to 10 years of clinical experience examining patients and understanding physician/patient interactions.
* Must have basic proven knowledge of statistics and data analysis.
* Understanding clinic patient workflow, and electronic records' workflow required
* Clinical and laboratory proficiency in Microbiology and Infection Control is a vital skill.
* Ability to identify unmet medical, educational and research needs within the medical community.
* Clinical experience in Infectious Diseases preferred
* Excellent organizational, leadership, and presentation skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple working streams simultaneously.
* Excellent verbal and written communications and interpersonal skills. Ability to adjust to multiple communication styles.
* Critical thinking, strategic, and analytical skills and a team approach to problem solving and decision making.
Licenses or Certifications
* Will consider favorably if candidate possesses membership and/or active participation in the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA), American Society of Microbiology (ASM) and American Board in Internal Medicine (ABIM) amongst many others.
