The Opportunity
We are looking for a dynamic senior leader with great communication skills and experience leading a high potential team, with a background in technology, business analytics and intelligence, and strong logic and problem solving. The Director, Data Solutions is responsible for leading a team of robust data analyst organization for Consumer Asset Management team and develop world class data and business intelligence solutions.
As a leader of Analytics team, this leader will be responsible to build a strong partnership with Business Analytics/Operational leaders and core technology leadership and help migrate Ally's current data infrastructure to a next gen cloud-based technology.
The Work Itself
* Partner with executive management to understand and deliver key analytic solutions using Big Data to facilitate performance insights
* Drive stability, performance and support of production reporting and meet demand for data across Operational and Analytic teams
* Ensures Data Solution Team collaboration with Business and Information Technology leaders to develop vision, strategy and execution plans that are aligned with business analytics outcomes
* Lead with governance teams to design and implement common data standards to enable consistent and accurate reporting for the business
* Enable and support the continued growth in analytics by optimizing our ability to demonstrate insights to best advise decision making
* Mentor, guide, and develop Data Solutions team to provide Business Intelligence technical solutions as well as impactful information (including succession planning)
* Collaborate with IT organization and others in designing and redefining abundant and disparate data into trusted data pipelines of rich and easily accessible information (reduce time-to-insight)
* Establish sound processes and procedures in the development and oversight of regular reporting production, including efficiencies and automation
* Lead data and reporting projects to deliver results on time and communicate project status updates to partners and leadership
* Assist managers and analysts in developing task lists and project plans to deliver solutions on time
* Proactively identify, assess, and manage risk (data security, data quality, data preparation, data usage, etc.)
* Engage in and fully support a culture of Diversity & Inclusion
* Stays current with industry trends and leads development of key data/analytics innovation platforms
The Skills You Bring
* Ability to communicate effectively to executive leadership in both technology and business roles
* 8+ years leading a team of direct reports with the ability to identify, manage and resolve critical issues under pressure affecting a specific Business segment
* Possesses superior client relationship skills Strong analytical, communication (written and oral), and social skills
* Shown results in implementing large scale data management/business intelligence implementation in a cloud warehouse
* Ability to prioritize workload and balance multiple initiatives and efforts Ability to respond quickly to a changing environment
* Demonstrated technical experience in Big Data Platforms & Solutions, Cloud Data Lakes, Visualization and Reporting
* Proven ability to successfully operate in a highly matrix organizational system where partnership and influence are key drivers of success
* 8+ years working with partners on gathering requirements & prioritizing requests
* Experience delivering creative and innovative business and technology solutions
* Ability to manage complexity, prioritize team deliverables, and make effective decision
* 8+ years managing simple to complex projects
* Experience developing and maintaining automated data processes and structures
* Experience identifying, assessing, and managing risk
* Preferred experience in consumer financing industry (auto, mortgage, etc.)
* Bachelor's degree in IT or data discipline (MIS, Computer Science, etc.). Master's degree preferred.
* Advanced knowledge of Data Warehousing, Data Lakes, Cloud data engineering and associated tools (Hadoop, SQL, Snowflake, etc.)
* 8+ years of experience designing data warehousing/data lake solutions. Preferred to have AWS and Snowflake experience
* Sophisticated knowledge of Oracle/Teradata, SQL Server and cloud databases/data warehouses
* 8+ years extracting data from Oracle/Teradata and SQL server databases/data warehouse.
* 6+ years leveraging data visualization and BI tools (Cognos, Power BI, Tableau, or etc)
* Advanced knowledge of programming languages (SAS, SQL, Python)
* 8+ years programming in SAS, SQL and using associated tools (E.G., macros, etc.). Working knowledge of Python programming and use cases of it is a plus
* 8+ years performing complex data extraction from multiple, large data sources
* 8+ years performing complex data aggregation, cleaning, and quality checking
* Experience with version control software (Subversion, etc.) preferred.
* Solid understanding and Agile practice of project management is required.
