Fortune 5 CVS Health is seeking an experienced Sales and Use Tax Senior Manager with a demonstrated ability to identify and deliver strategic tax savings opportunities and a proven ability to navigate and collaborate with multiple stakeholders in a large and complex organization.

As a Senior Manager, Sales and Use Tax Determinations and Compliance in the CVS Health Tax Department, you will report to the Senior Director, Indirect Tax. Your primary responsibilities include identifying opportunities to meaningfully reduce tax expense and improve operating results, leading your team to determine the proper taxation of goods and services purchased and sold, and managing the compliance process to ensure taxes are accurately and timely remitted. You will partner with colleagues in the Tax and Finance organizations and in our business units, directly advise and consult with clients, client sales and support teams, and manage significant relationships with service providers. Success in this role with require a passion for developing and managing high-performance teams, an appetite for leading change and a low tolerance for the status quo.

Additional responsibilities of this role include:
- Lead a team of approximately 6-7 tax professionals, including managers and analysts, to consistently deliver expected financial results, continuously improve processes and relentlessly integrate automation to improve compliance and reliability of results.
-Review, research, understand and determine the appropriate taxability of the goods and services being purchased and sold in a timely and accurate manner.
-Oversee a compliance process that is primarily outsourced to third parties, ensuring agreed-upon performance metrics are consistently met or exceeded.
-Introduce the use of artificial intelligence, data visualization or other tools to review and monitor tax determination results in our proprietary point of sale, billing and other systems that are integrated with Thompson Reuters One Source Tax Determination System
-Introduce data analytics or other tools to evaluate the appropriateness of use tax accruals on purchases using SAP S/4, Thomson Reuters OneSource Tax Determination system and other accounting and tax systems,
-Review tax account reconciliations for accuracy and timeliness, and develop recommendations for automation or other process improvements.
-Diagnose and resolve complex tax and business process challenges, eliminate points of potential failure and implement reliable process improvements
-Support and advise sales and client service teams when contracting with clients or resolving client issues, engaging directly with clients as needed to explain and clarify the operation of sales tax provisions in our contracts.
-Ability to communicate clearly, accurately and tactfully, both verbally and in writing, successfully translating always-complex tax rules for business partners and customers.
-Ability to work with a high degree of independence with accuracy and high attention to detail.

Required Qualifications
At least seven (7) years of sales and use tax experience (public or private)

Preferred Qualifications
-Knowledge of health care industry, including experience with health care billing systems and tax determinations for health care goods and services.
-Minimum 9 years of recent experience in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, results-oriented tax department or similar working environment.
-Experience with process automation, improvements and standardization, ensuring enhanced controls, and delivering timely, high-quality results.
-Analytical skills with specific subject matter expertise and tax research skills, including a deep understanding of US retail sales taxability concepts.
-Working knowledge of Microsoft Access, Excel, Ariba, Servicechannel, as well as SAP S/4, Tririga, and Thomson Reuters OneSource Tax Determination (experience with Vertex or SOVOS will be less directly applicable, but still relevant), as well as Tableau, PowerBI and SQL

Bachelors degree in Accounting, Business or Finance
