The JPSS Mission Support Team seeks a Lead IT Security Engineer. The position is located at the NOAA Satellite Operations Facility (NSOF) in Suitland, Maryland, and Raytheons facility at Riverdale, Maryland. This individual will work operational security activities for the ground system including execution of recurring security maintenance and compliance functions across a widely dispersed ground system including leading the security team in its assigned duties. The individual reports to the JPSS Security IPT Lead and works with Raytheon site lead in a matrixed organization.
Though normal work hours are weekdays 8AM5PM, this position has a recurring scheduled on-call during non-working hours requirement spread across the team. Additionally, the successful candidate must be able to work occasional off-hour and weekend shifts needed to support ongoing operations such as system anomaly restoral, or preparation for satellite launch.
His/her duties include but are not limited to:
* Support the installation, configuration, and use of security solutions including security assessment scanning (Nessus), anti-malware protection (McAfee/Symantec), security information & event management (SIEM, e.g., QRadar), patch/security control implementation via automated tools like IBM Tivoli Endpoint Manager (TEM)/BigFix, data integrity (Tripwire), and Cisco/McAfee/Forcepoint network device management (console &/or NetMRI).
* As JPSS Security Lead, schedule the team to ensure proper coverage of duties by the team. As lead, coordinate with MST Lead and the Security IPT lead to ensure tasked areas are addressed.
* Submit, manage, and obtain approval of change requests through engineering change management boards. Review and assess Engineering Change Requests (ECR).
* Effectively coordinate changes in a fast-paced work environment.
* Execute recurring security maintenance and compliance functions across widely dispersed ground systems.
* Monitoring the JPSS System on a daily basis to identify and report any new security threats found.
* Perform Monthly Vulnerability scanning to meet 95% successful completion of the FISMA JPSS Inventory.
* Recommend operational security approach for ongoing compliance activities including vulnerability scanning, compliance audits, recurring security configuration checks, and overall Certification and Accreditation (C&A) readiness.
* Identify, evaluate, and remediate vulnerabilities with work-offs to closure of security findings.
* Supporting contingencies and incident response plans and exercises, in concert with the Mission Operations team.
* Interface with the government on operational security issues.
Travel is required inside and outside of Continental United States but less than 15%.
Required Skills:
* Individual must be able to obtain DoD Secret Security Clearance to gain access to classified systems.
* Six years or more experience with security and C&A functions associated with space ground systems.
* Security+, Network+, or equivalent.
* Previous team lead experience for at least one year.
Experience in all facets of security operations:
* System protection.
* Scanning and auditing.
* Recurring security configuration checks and management.
* Risk assessment.
* Contingency/incident response.
* Security sustainment of a large ground system.
Experience in:
* Working with government customers.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills.
* Microsoft Office suite.
* Manage time/priorities to meet deadlines.
Hands-on experience administering & using at least one of the following:
* Tenable Security Center/Nessus

Desired Skills:
Proven ability to establish and maintain good working relationship with all levels of an organization including customers, engineering, IPT, supporting functional organizations.
Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or commensurate certification.
Experience in preparing estimates, technical documents, and other contract deliverable items.
Proven experience for three years in two of the three below:
* Network administration/engineering (Cisco Nexus, Catalyst, Cisco Forcepoint/Firepower, & Cisco Identity Services Engine)
* Systems administrator experience (Windows, Red Hat Enter11prise Linux).
* Vulnerability scanning utilizing Tenable products (Security Center/Nessus).
Experience in preparing customer and/or management level briefings.
Required Education:
STEM Degree, preferred specialization in Computer Science or Information Security, and 10 years of relevant experience.
