DESCRIPTION
Come build the future of content management at AWS Marketing! Our teams are responsible for running the services and tools that power the AWS marketing website and blog platform. We are currently re-building our platforms to better scale our offerings and bring the platform to utilize more 1st party offerings. Our tools are used by thousands of internal users across many different teams in AWS.
We are looking for an engineer to help us redefine the content management space for our blogging platform. In this role, you will help build a 1st party blogging platform to be used across AWS to inform our customers on new products and best practices for existing AWS services. Our architecture is based on micro-services and uses the latest technology from the AWS Cloud: DynamoDB, Lambda, Serverless, SNS, SQS, CloudFront, and many others. Dont worry if you dont have experience with all of these technologies as we will train you up!
In this role you will work with a team of engineers to build the new blogging platform from the ground up. You will work with product managers, designers and blog content creators to design and build a world class blogging platform that is used by hundreds of internal users and accessed by millions of our AWS customers.

This position involves on-call responsibilities, typically for one week every two months. We dont like getting paged in the middle of the night or on the weekend, so we work to ensure that our systems are fault tolerant. When we do get paged, we work together to resolve the root cause so that we dont get paged for the same issue twice.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent work experience
3+ years professional experience in software development
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience with DynamoDB, Lambda, API Gateway, CloudSearch, CloudFront, SNS and SQS
Fluency in Java and JavaScript
Comfortable with Linux command line including git
Strong knowledge of Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design, data structures, algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis
Knowledge of, at least, one modern programming language such as C, C++, Java, or Perl
Experience developing complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
Ability to take a project from scoping requirements through actual launch of the project
Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and management to collect requirements, describe software product features, and technical designs
Experiencing mentoring junior software development engineers and driving engineering excellence
