YOUR ROLE
We are looking for a Director, Actuary that is highly motivated to join our Actuarial Team in our Lynchburg Office. We work with products in multiple administration systems and we are looking for someone with a broad base of product and system knowledge. We are looking for someone who has experience working at or with the Service Center, and is able to find answers to the difficult questions that regularly come our way.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
In this role, you will provide Actuarial support for In-Force Products in these areas:
Tools
* Gain in-depth understanding of existing tools that are being used to support in-force illustrations, annual reports, endorsements and in-force product testing
* Develop new tools and maintenance of existing tools
* Provide guidance on any changing industry regulations
* Advise and recommend improvements or options for in-force projections and testing tools required to maintain Life products
Team Management and Training
* Facilitate training of actuarial specialists and any other support roles
* Provide education and training on product features to actuarial specialists, IT personnel and CSC associates
* Manage actuarial students
Team Manager
* Validate calculations for annual reports and in-force projection requests
* Handle complex calculation requests from the team mailbox
* Provide assistance with actuarial calculations required to resolve policyholder disputes, insurance department complaints and/or litigation
* Provide support for answering product-related questions
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
* BA /BS Degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics and/or related major
* Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) designation
* 5+ years Actuarial experience working with life insurance products, preferably universal life
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
* Demonstrated ability to build rapport and collaborate with various departments to accomplish business goals and tasks
* Self-driven, motivated and demonstrates ownership in tasks
* Demonstrated skill in APL programming and MS Excel programming
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Progress towards FSA designation
* Knowledge of Life Comm, Life 70 and CyberLife
