ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Work as an R&D Photolithography Engineer to support Heat Assisted Magnetic Recording (HAMR) Process & Materials group at Western Digital in Fremont, California
* Engineer will be responsible for researching, developing, and characterizing photolithography processes for HAMR devices fabrication
* Job requires close interfacing with engineers and scientists in HAMR process and integration groups
* Document and communicate process development plans, status, and results in written reports and presentations
* Document procedures, communicate results with development team, and transfer developed processes to manufacturing partners
* Work with materials and equipment vendors to introduce new photolithography materials, equipment/processes to enable next generation magnetic head fabrication
* Optimize wafer yield, failure analysis, and performance through photolithography process techniques

QUALIFICATIONS:

* M.S or Ph.D. in Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, or Physics
* A minimum of three years of experience in semiconductor and/or magnetic head wafer photolithography processing is required for candidates with a MS degree
* Candidate must be innovative, detail-oriented and have strong oral and written communication skills
* Understanding of optics including the principles and application of 248 or 193 lithography
* Experience with ASML scanners or TEL/DNS coating tool/process is a plus
* Experience with lithography simulation software and application to OPC mask design
* Experience with one or more of the following a plus: Metrology, material characterization techniques, RIE, semiconductor and/or magnetic head wafer processing and integration
* Proficient in statistics, data analysis, Design of Experiments (DOE)
* Excellent teamwork and people skills are required
