Job Description
This Repair Design Engineer (RDE) position is with the Global Services Engineering (GSE) Military Repair Group. The RDE is responsible for the development of repairs for military aero engines, and includes development of the repair concept, writing of the repair, obtaining approvals, and coordination with the end user. An RDE in Oklahoma City also supports Source Demonstration activities, vendor process execution issues, repair and tool qualification events and disposition of unserviceable engine hardware.
Your responsibilities include:
* Participating in a multi-discipline team to establish repair design requirements and ensure repairs are safe, durable, and meet the quality requirements of the OEM parts.
* Researching operating environments and functionality of components, their interactions with mating parts, and developing strategies which will return damaged parts back to service.
* Creating technical documents that provide engineering requirements for repairs.
* Reviewing repair sources processes for compliance to technical data and qualification criteria.
* Supporting resolution of repair processing issues in the customers repair business units, suppliers or at the Tinker Air Logistics Center.
* Interfacing with the technical and program management to secure priorities and understand programmatic issues as needed.
* Supporting the Customer in the resolution of field supportability issues.
Basic Qualifications
* Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
* 7+ years of mechanical design, materials, or manufacturing engineering experience
Preferred Qualifications
* BS in Mechanical, Aerospace or Materials Engineering
* Experience with manufacturing processes such as machining, plating, plasma spray, welding or brazing is desired.
* Able to manage numerous projects and have good communication and organization skills.
* Demonstrate good business judgement in interactions with external customers.
* Team player
* Excellent communication skills
* Good balance of practical and analytical skills
* Experience in Process Improvement efforts
