NPI Sourcing Project Manager

Abbott Medical is looking for an energetic individual as an NPI Sourcing Project Manager, you will have responsibility for sourcing of assigned parts and bill of materials in support of New Product Development. This positions responsibilities include: product cost and timing of procured components; working with cross-functional project teams and other members of the Supply Chain team to achieve component COGS targets; adherence to tooling budgets; execution of established sourcing strategies; and meeting project schedules, project milestones and Phase Gate deliverables.
WHAT YOULL DO

* Project Management:
* Managing sourcing activities according to project timelines. Providing status updates to Sourcing management and Core Team members.
* Identify and develop supplier risk management strategies for new product launches.
* Responsible for communicating project sourcing strategies and risk mitigation plans to Engineering, Manufacturing, Supplier Quality Engineering, Category Management and Site Supply Chain.
* Developing proactive escalation and mitigation plans as necessary to achieve project objectives.
* Collaborating with Procurement Engineering, develop appropriate cost modeling strategies for NPI bill of materials.
* Product Development / Engineering relationships and Support:
* Managing component requirements in support of project cost targets which may include supplier negotiations.
* Managing supplier performance to required delivery dates to support development, design validation and product launch activities.
* Sourcing Activities:
* Initiating RFXs and selecting direct material suppliers in accordance with the established category strategies and SOPs.
* Ordering and managing prototype parts required to support product development projects.
* Developing target costing and negotiating with suppliers to achieve targets.
* Managing and negotiating procurement budgets related to supplier tooling, prototypes and additional procured components.
* Working with preferred suppliers on new projects and assuring proper agreements are in place such as development agreements, and non-disclosure agreements.
* Negotiate terms and conditions, price, quality and delivery for complex purchasing contracts or design development agreements and Statement of Work; approve and/or redraft contract clauses, including flow-down requirements.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOULL BRING

Required

* BS/BA Degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Finance or Business (Masters preferred).
* Minimum 5 years of working experience in manufacturing or New Product Development environment or a minimum 5 years Supply Chain experience.
* Ability to work independently in a highly project-management oriented capacity.
* Proactive nature to drive results from cross-functional teams, ability to influence critical elements and activities.
* Experience in negotiating complex contracts; design development agreements, Statement of Work, supply agreements.
* Domestic and international sourcing experience.
* Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
* Strong capabilities in the use of MS-Excel (advanced), SAP ERP Systems, MS-Work, MS-Access, MS-PowerPoint and MS-Project applications.

Preferred

* Experience in Product Development is highly desirable, inclusive of reading technical drawings and understanding manufacturing processes
