General Purpose of Job

This position provides strategic leadership to achieve key business objectives for Annuity Valuation. S/he will develop Actuarial strategy and provide highly specialized expertise to senior stakeholders. This role has a remote job option that can be performed anywhere in the United States except in Colorado.

Responsibilities

Maintains knowledge on current and emerging developments/trends for Annuity Valuation, assess the impact, and collaborates with executive/senior management to incorporate new trends and developments in current and future strategies.
Leads the identification, development, and implementation of strategic process improvements that improve quality across the team, business unit, and/or the organization for assigned area(s) of responsibility.
Leads and enhances organizational initiatives by positively influencing and supporting change management and/or departmental/enterprise initiatives within assigned area(s) of responsibility.
Provides highly specialized expertise and thought leadership to internal/external stakeholders for Annuity Valuation.

Contributes to business unit/operational and enterprise strategy creation for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
Builds organizational capability within his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
Leads/executes approved strategy for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
Leads and initiates strategy development for highly complex actuarial trends/issues/concerns for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
Provides thought leadership and advises senior management on actuarial strategies and risks, relating to Stat, tax and GAAP valuation.
Ensures that risks, exposure and key business issues are identified, properly accounted for and resolved.
Establishes, implements and oversees actuarial policies and procedures for his/her assigned area(s).
Collaborates with key business/management stakeholders to drive the development and adoption of key financial decisions and risk management techniques for the enterprise.
Leads and oversees strategic projects and timelines, ensuring that appropriate assumptions exhibits necessary for fact based decisions; financial reporting and forecasts are provided to internal stakeholders.
Partners effectively with various levels of management and other stakeholders to generate high-quality decisions.
Provides guidance on structure of complex actuarial concepts.
Monitors developments in actuarial industry with respect to new and emerging trends as it relates to valuation and represents the company on industry and professional committees and with regulators and auditors.
Ensures actuarial models and assumptions for his/her assigned area(s) comply with all company, financial and industry laws, rules, and regulations.
Builds organizational capability within his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
Ensures that top talent is hired and retained for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
Provides training and development opportunities, including stretch assignments, members and gives honest and open feedback to aid in the development of talent.

Education

4 Year/Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor's) - Minimum Required

Certifications

FSA designation or ASA designation with additional years actuarial experience -Upon Hire

FSA, MAAA designation -Upon Hire

Experience

12+ Years of experience years in actuarial science that directly aligns with the specific responsibilities for this position, including 5+ years of management, strategy, and influencing senior management/critical stakeholders experience (Required )

Qualified Actuary with the ability to sign statements of actuarial opnion

Knowledge of Prophet, Alfa, Axis, PTS actuarial software a plus
