Wythe County Community Hospital
Under the direction of a nursing director or other supervisor, assumes the responsibility and accountability for developing, evaluating and directing the plan of care for assigned patients. Works in collaboration with all other care disciplines to provide safe, efficient, and coordinated care for assigned patients. Utilizes the nursing process in accordance with the established policies and procedures of WCCH, maintains clinical competencies through continuing education, and delegates patient care priorities commensurate with the education and experience of the available staff. The ICCU Nurse provides care to acutely and critically ill patients, in a highly technical and ongoing monitoring environment. These patients are facing life-threatening problems with varying needs, which require extensive medication best practices and therapies.
Job Requirements
1. Current licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse, or Compact licensure as a Registered Nurse which includes the Commonwealth of VA, and in good standing with the Board
2. BCLS at hire
3. ACLS, and PALS certification required six months post hire.
4. CCRN certification preferred
5. Handle with Care certification within one year of date of hire.
6. Critical Care class or preceptorship preferred prior to hire
7. At least one year of previous experience in an ICCU/CCU as an RN strongly preferred.
8. Ability to accept regular on-call assignments for regularly scheduled shifts when acuity and/or census indicates need. Will be available to report to facility within 30 minutes of notification. This status will be determined by Department Director, House Supervisor or Administrator on call.
9. Float to various clinical areas, where qualified and competent

Our Health Support Center (HSC), in Brentwood, Tennessee, has subject matter expertise in every area of healthcare operations and provider services. The HSC is organized to bring resources to bear across the continuum of care, from before a patient accesses healthcare services to after they are sent home, while keeping quality and compliance at the center.
