The Consultative Pharmacy Technician 2 certified Pharmacy Technician who acts as an intake for all calls from patients, pharmacies and providers. The Consultative Pharmacy Technician 2 performs varied activities and moderately complex administrative/operational/customer support assignments. Performs computations. Typically works on semi-routine assignments.
Responsibilities
Summary:
A CII Pharmacy Technician exhibits advanced knowledge of our CII process with regards to physician and hospice interaction, as well as the internal handling of our valid and invalid controlled prescriptions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Reconcile incoming controlled substance prescriptions, including the processing of faxed and mailed prescriptions as per standard operating procedure
* Assist in maintaining prescriber files by updating personal information/preferences as requested
* Access and process prescriptions in the dispensing and faxing systems
* Perform follow-up with hospices/prescribers to clear up any fax related issues or discrepancies
* Process daily reports as needed
* Respond to all email requests and phone calls regarding CII medication inquiries accurately and timely
* Manage the controlled substance fax folders and make necessary changes to prescription information such as directions, drug and strength
* Recognize and interpret hand written and typed information from inbound faxed prescriptions, including ability to read sig codes
* Possess a working knowledge of dispensing system functionality
* Transition inbound controlled substances faxes to Hard Copy on File
* Complete incoming tasks as assigned by the CII Supervisor, Manager or Team Leader
* Meet and maintain productivity and quality requirements
* Utilize faxing system to refax prescriptions to prescribers as needed
* Process incoming e-prescriptions and follow-up as needed for any identified discrepancies
* Maintain and strengthen a working relationship with both internal and external clients
* Perform all other duties/projects as assigned by the CII Supervisor, Manager or Team Leader

Education and/or Experience:
* High-School diploma required
* Prior relevant Pharmacy Technician experience
* Customer service experienced preferred
* Community pharmacy experience preferred
Computer Skills:
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
* Proficient in dispensing and faxing systems (internal candidates)
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
* CPhT preferred
