Main position objectives
The Technical Support Engineer provides the highest quality on and off-site technical support like calculation and application analysis, and repair and improvement proposals for the Maag family of equipment to include: pump and filtration systems serving the plastics and polymer industry. The incumbent is the technical representative to our customers for all product maintenance, installation, and repair issues.
Position description Tasks, responsibilities, competencies
* Independently travels globally to act as the companys primary technical representative to the customer. Travel will be primarily in North and South America but from time to time travel to other parts of the world is required.
* May perform calculations and application analysis for new and existing systems
* Conducts customer visits to provide equipment evaluation, installation, troubleshooting, maintenance and/or repair activities as required.
* Provides customer training as needed.
* Represents the company and collects customer feedback to feed continuous improvement opportunities.
* Leads technical discussions regarding machinery repairs and improvements and provides alternatives to customers to help them decide on a solution.
* Completes reports to document activities and meet business needs.
* Collaborates closely with others in the organization to include engineering, operations, parts, and sales to develop customer focused solutions.
* Other tasks as assigned by manager.
Required Education and Experience
* Bachelors Degree in Engineering or Science related discipline
* Able to read and explain manufacturing drawing, schematics and piping and instrumentation diagrams.
Desired Education and Experience
* Training on logic circuits, electric motors, gears / mechanical devices
* Knowledge of: fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and rheology
* Familiarity with pumps and large rotating equipment
* Field Service or Military technical experience
* Applications experience in plastics processing equipment is highly desirable.
