ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
* Assist in managing purchased material costs through effective supply base management and cost reduction initiatives.
* Assist in managing make/buy analysis and other strategic procurement decisions.
* Achieve in depth product and commodity knowledge to understand the relationship to supplier technology, capabilities, processes, and capacities.
* Develop, manage, and maintain vendor relationships.
* Communicate and/or negotiate with suppliers regarding forecasts, engineering change notices, schedule changes, discrepant material changes, and delivery schedules.
* Review and release planned orders in Rapid Planning.
* Review requisitions to ensure accuracy and completeness.
* Generate purchase orders from releases and/or requisitions within Oracle and submit POs to vendors.
* Monitor and maintain purchase orders ensuring the timely delivery of materials to support customer and manufacturing requirements.
* Review vendor acknowledgements and confirmations to ensure pricing, dates, and quantities are in alignment with PO requirements.
* Review vendor managed inventory to ensure stocking levels are properly maintained.
* Expedite purchased items as required. Arrange special delivery if necessary and approved. Proactively communicate expected delivery dates to all key stakeholders.
* Verify material receipts.
* Work with vendors to resolve discrepancies with quantity and quality of materials, components, indirect materials or services received.
* Assist Receiving/Accounts Payables in resolving receipt/invoice discrepancies.
* Analyze and maintain optimal inventory levels based on forecast, demand variation, and material lead times.
* Setup and maintain ERP parameters related to planning and procurement (MOQ, order multipliers, supplier lead time, planning time fence, etc.)
* Coordinate material flow throughout product/BOM changes, obsolescence, and the introduction of new items due to new product development. Evaluate engineering changes to guarantee that all purchased items meet necessary specifications.
* Interface with all departments and resolve problems with required purchased components.
* Work with cross-functional teams to support continuous improvement projects as needed.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
* Basic knowledge of the legal aspects of the purchase order.
* Effective oral and written communication skills.
* Good problem-solving skills with the ability to make decisions based on defined criteria.
* Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
* Experience or knowledge of ERP/MRP/MRP II systems
* Strong multi-tasking capabilities; ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects concurrently.
* Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
* Bachelors degree in related field.
* 3-5 years purchasing experience or the equivalent in education and experience combined.
