The Global Client Group (GCG) serves American Express largest and most complex global merchants, representing over $260B of charge volume across retail, online and travel-related industries. As a Director in the GMNS Global Client Group, you will be responsible for building a global strategy to drive growth within the travel industry (airline, car rental, lodging and/or online travel agencies). The incumbent will be expected to leverage their influencing, collaborating, consultative selling, negotiation and marketing skills to reinforce the American Express value proposition, expand relationships and drive business results within this portfolio. Additionally, the Director will oversee a team of client managers and analysts by providing oversight and prioritization, coaching, guidance, and thought leadership.

Key global responsibilities include developing strategic account plans to grow charge volume, drive incremental revenue, improve share and increase profitability. The incumbent will lead and support his/her team in negotiating Card acceptance agreements, manage merchant operational expansion and sell in other American Express products/services to achieve revenue and profitability goals. The incumbent will be required to gain a thorough understanding of client needs and industry trends to increase AXP relevance and deepen and elevate merchant relationships. The incumbent will be required to closely work with teams across AXP and in specific markets to support business building initiatives and to provide thought leadership around complex issues.

Minimum Qualifications

* Proven ability to drive results in a highly complex and dynamic external marketplace
* Strong strategic thinking, analytical and problem resolution skills; thrives in an ambiguous environment
* Ability to develop and implement creative solutions to marketing, financial, operational and other business problems
* Project management skills and the ability to manage multiple accounts and initiatives in parallel
* Excellent global influencing and collaboration skills, internally and externally
* Solid relationship management and consultative selling skills with an ability to establish, maintain, and deepen relationships with external customers
* Proven ability to manage a high performing team
* Excellent oral/written communication and presentation skills a must
* Prior client management, partnership and negotiation experience preferred
