Clinical Performance is charged with effectively implementing, monitoring, and executing on programs related to driving affordability, clinical quality and risk adjustment activities across all lines of business for OptumCare a ~$9billion a year organization, touching over 9 million patients, 80 payers, and 22,000 providers.

This position for a Data Analyst will report into the Clinical Performance Director of Data and Analytics and will be responsible for working directly within the business unit to brainstorm, make recommendations, design and build analytics solutions for issues facing our internal business and external business partners. You must be self-directed and creative as you will deal with some very interesting and complex issues. As a key resource to others you must maintain a high degree of accuracy along with attention to detail, excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to always meet deadlines.

On a daily basis, you will understand and interpret business requirements and translate into data modeling and reporting initiatives. Keep up with changes to CMS risk models, and manage and account for downstream impact. Ensure research/analyses are useful and accurate, and clearly communicate findings to leadership. Quickly comprehend and understand complex interrelationships of data to inform analytics solutions. Appropriately interpret and communicate results. Build trusted relationships with all everyone and be a reliable source of valuable information.

Primary Responsibilities:

* Detecting and addressing data issues, and solving data quality problems.
* Analyzing data and creating compelling reports / visualizations and presentations to assist decision-making capabilities
* Adapting standard or developing novel applications of classification, trending, forecasting, simulation, optimization, and summarization techniques.
* Developing successful methodologies for analyzing and presenting data.
* Performing research and providing adhoc results to management
* Design, build, and maintain SQL and SSIS efforts that help support and facilitate business efforts.
* Work with business to understand their requirements and need, design an appropriate solution, build out processes as needed, and maintain technology processes to support business efforts.
* Perform analytics to identify best business practices based on current and historical data
* Coordinate with national and market leaders to assess and track outcomes
* Improve existing Processes to better align with changing operations and business needs
* Develop innovative ways to address and appropriately prioritize the varying information needs
* Monitor and report on program performance and outcomes.

Required Qualifications:

* Undergraduate degree or equivalent
* 5+ years of experience in an analytical role creating and maintaining reports, maintaining queries, drawing conclusions, and making recommendations
* 5+ years of experience writing SQL queries, tables, and stored procedures
* 5+ years of data reporting/analysis experience
* Intermediate knowledge working with SSIS
* Basic knowledge building database reports
* Experience creating analytic models for specific business purposes such as forecasting, ROI, etc.
* Experience using visualization tools such as Tableau
* Experience working with MS Excel including formulas, calculations, pivots
* Ability to work independently and in a team environment to deliver
* Ability to prioritize tasks, multi-task, and solve problems under tight deadlines
* 10% travel: to conferences / large meetings as needed

Preferred Qualifications:

* Strong knowledge of CMS Medicare Risk Adjustment
* Knowledge of managed care and government pay for performance programs
* Experience in handling and managing large volumes of data
* Intermediate knowledge working with VBA or .NET
* Experience in healthcare, understanding of Medicare Advantage/Risk Adjustment, Affordability/Medical Savings and Quality/STARS/HEDIS
* Experience working in a fast-paced, challenging environment
