The Senior Manager, Competitor Intelligence will provide competitive intelligence for GSK’s global oncology portfolio. Additionally, the individual will take a supportive role in managing, advancing, and continually improving the competitive intelligence processes, procedures, and databases. The position will be expected to work in a highly collaborative environment with subject matter experts in Medical Affairs, Regulatory, Manufacturing, Sales and Marketing, Market Research, Market Access, Finance, and Legal.

The position has primary responsibility for overseeing the integration of diverse data sources regarding competitor activities into clear, informed, and actionable content to ensure that competitive threats are proactively addressed, and opportunities are optimized. The successful candidate must have a track record of effectively leveraging secondary data sources in combination with vendor selection and management to understand and present the competitive marketplace and considerations for GSK’s late-stage/marketed assets.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

Provide an objective commercial viewpoint based on an in-depth understanding and analysis of commercial, clinical, and scientific competitive information
Proactively drive analysis and ensure early awareness of key market opportunities and risks through analysis of primary and secondary information
Apply and execute robust competitive assessments and insights that inform key decision-making regarding product positioning/messaging, long and short-range forecasting, and lifecycle management, including clinical development strategy
Deliver guidance, recommendations and market intelligence insights to key stakeholders, including market research, sales, marketing, med affairs, regulatory
Establish and maintain cross-functional team and individual relationships with personnel outside of the Competitive Intelligence team to provide multifaceted perspectives on competitive threats
Lead in collecting competitive intelligence at major medical conferences; managing the analysis and reporting of onsite competitive activities, obtaining answers to key intelligence questions and reporting on breaking news and/or key developments
Oversee the construction/sourcing and maintenance of a CI database for preserving and accessing competitor data/metrics
Own and execute scenario planning workshops to develop insights to competitor strategy and tactics for commercial decision making
Why you?
Qualifications:

Required:

BA/MS/MBA/ PhD with 4-6 years of experience in the pharmaceutical or other related healthcare field in the areas of competitive intelligence, market research, Investment banking and/or strategy. consulting with a minimum of 2-3 years in a commercial competitive intelligence role
Strong commercial background sufficient to research and assess impact of competitive threats and identify competitor messaging and sales and marketing strategies
Computer skills: proven competence with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint software programs.
Travel (25%) to congresses or other GSK sites is required
Preferred:

Experience in oncology
Experience working and managing multiple vendors
Demonstrated leadership in the synthesis of primary and secondary data sources commonly used in the pharmaceutical industry (i.e. ADIS, Citeline, clinicaltrials.gov, EvaluatePharma, Decision Resources, DataMonitor, etc.) including the caveats and appropriate uses of each source
Demonstrated ability to synthesize data to obtain key takeaways
Proven ability to work with a high level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail
Willingness to work collaboratively by incorporating diverse perspectives and appropriately managing relationships in order to strengthen decision making
Proactively seek out and recommend process improvements
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and operate in a matrix environment
Strong communication skills: ability to communicate (verbal and written) technical and non-technical information clearly to a diverse audience with leadership presence.
