The Art Supervisor is responsible for art development and oversight on assigned brand and working
closely with Copy, Account, and Studio partners to ensure that clients are satisfied with the quality of our
creative work, the value of our services, and our responsiveness to their needs.
Creative/Hands-on Work
* Works with Copy partner to produce and present Brave, Authentic, Inspiring ideas and multichannel tactics
* The lead art director on print, video, and digital projects with minimal supervision
* Creates layouts and designs that are attention-grabbing, unique, and aligned with brand identity
* Manages and works independently, often under tight deadlines, while juggling multiple projects
* Learning to provide constructive feedback to improve others work
* Participates in client meetings
* Attends market research as appropriate
* Becoming familiar with positioning and strategic process
* Understands that advertising is a service industry that sometimes requires extra time and effort to meet client commitments
Management
* Manages their own workload and those of direct reports to maximize productivity and maintain billable hours; conscious of financial implications of freelance use when delegating projects
* Works closely with Copy, Studio, Account, Traffic and Project Management to ensure jobs are on track with deadlines and budgets
* Proactively seeks feedback from Copy partner, supervisor, and Creative leaders
* Provides written and face-to-face feedback for annual performance reviews, as well as ongoing feedback throughout the year
* Interviews prospective Art candidates
Leadership
* Maintains good relationships with clients
* Consistently demonstrates to clients an understanding of assigned brand(s) and relevant marketing challenges, and is responsive to their strategic and creative needs
* Represents the agency at client meetings with other team members
* Presents work with enthusiasm, internally and externally, to gain buy-in and negotiate changes
* Assures that junior art directors are trained and mentored to maintain the expectations of the agency and the client, and to meet their own career goals
Qualifications
* Bachelor degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
* At least 5 years advertising experience (healthcare preferred), preferably in an agency
* A proven track record of creative ability and judgment; successful client contact experience; collaborates successfully with Copy and Account; good presentation skills; a strong interest in science and healthcare; understanding of MLR requirements; strong design skills in all media
