Facebook Small business group is looking for a Research Manager with excellent research, communication and people management skills to drive business strategy, inform its execution, improve efficiency and facilitate clients success at scale. Small business group is a diverse marketing and sales org which focuses on bringing the best marketing solutions to small businesses on Facebook to empower them to thrive. But figuring out the right research, the appropriate involvement, and the ideal touch points is a delicate balance when there are so many important things to understand. What makes a good candidate? Someone who has exceptional quantitative research skills, but who also is able to strike the right balance between scrappiness and rigor and clearly communicate how research translates into business decisions. It's not enough to answer interesting questions about businesses behavior; our team focuses on impact. You will oversee a team of world-class researchers across a key marketing vertical and across multiple research disciplines. The role requires you to be an expert researcher with a proven track record of doing quantitative and survey research that impacts various complex, diverse, global marketing solution organizations. The role also requires you to have a proven track record of building and managing high-performing teams, preferably with researchers of different disciplines. You will be required to articulate the vision of the team to business leadership and be a strong advocate for the role of research in marketing activity development. You must become a trusted, strategic partner to business stakeholders by communicating and demonstrating the value of quantitative research and by delivering insights that lead to demonstrable business value. You must be a data expert, and have experience working with a data science team. You must be strong in data analysis, experimental design, strategic discussions, and an overall expert in the relationship between research, data science, marketing and product. You must build strong relationships with other research teams at Facebook, Inc. to ensure a cohesive and cross-functional vision for Research at Facebook.
Research Manager, SBG Responsibilities
* Manage, develop, and motivate a group of quantitative researchers
* Be a thought leader and go-to expert for program goals, strategy, and long-term vision
* Lead and conduct research and deep-dive analyses to identify needs and priorities of the business
* Facilitate data-driven and informed decision making and prioritization
* Develop strong cross-functional partnerships across Facebook to drive our team's success
* Drive outstanding performance both for this team and the broader cross-functional teams
Minimum Qualifications
* Experience building cross-functional relationships
* Experience and focus on research impact
* Resource Allocation Experience - ensure we are always focusing on the highest priority things, focusing both on the short term needs as well as looking ahead to the next big challenges
* 5+ years management experience in the areas of research (quantitative, or mixed-methods research, including generative, strategic, evaluative and tactical research)
* Understanding of quantitative and qualitative research, identifying appropriate methods for research questions, and track record of using data to make arguments
* Track record in managing teams, including attracting external talent and building teams
* Experience helping attract and retain researchers
* Track record of translating research into actionable directions (e.g., design or product directions)
* People management experience
* Experience working with a variety of cross-functional peers and stakeholders (e.g., product managers, data scientists, designers, engineers, policy, communications, marketing, etc.)
* MS/PhD in quantitative fields such as statistics, economics, sociology, psychology etc.
Preferred Qualifications
* Advanced degree
* Experience in the domains of small businesses and monetization
* Experience with using quantitative studies to influence business strategy and operation
