Newport News Shipbuilding Model Based Engineering (MBe) team is seeking a motivated senior engineer to support our efforts to revolutionize how we design, build, and sustain aircraft carriers and submarines. The primary responsibility of this team member will be to support projects in the MBe Innovation Cell (iCELL). The team member will have an opportunity to help develop, test, and implement innovative engineering & design solutions. This individual will require a solid understanding of current engineering processes as well as an overall understanding of how ships are designed, planned, constructed, and maintained. This position includes a range of responsibilities including leading R&D-related projects, process & tool solution development (including TcU/NX, SAP, SIMCENTER, etc.), project management, and support strategy development. This individual will be required to interface with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders at all levels of leadership.

Basic Qualifications

9 Years with Bachelors in Science; 7 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD. Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelors Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.

Preferred Qualifications

* An expert-level knowledge of design processes and tools
* A strong understanding of shipbuilding, including its full value stream
* Strong technical skills, especially in engineering analysis and submarine
* Able to lead a project and be responsible for all aspects of project management
* Experienced and skilled in communicating to multiple levels of leadership
* Familiar with product lifecycle management (PLM), data environments like IPDE or FCDE, and product modeling processes
* Experience and knowledge of integrated Digital Shipbuilding (iDS)
* Working knowledge of various tools such as Siemens TcU/NX, Simcenter, Mendix, MPP, SAP, etc.
