Position Summary:

* Contributing to the successful completion of major projects that support strategic priorities or difficult technical objectives, the V-280 Program Manufacturing Engineer Process / Planning Lead understands how to translate engineering drawings, or models, into manufacturing work instructions and optimal assembly sequences.
* Working under general direction, the individual possesses knowledge in digital planning tools to communicate assembly flow and facilitate aggregation and application of lessons learned.
* The V-280 Program Build Planning Engineer will support the Bell FLRAA V-280 (Future Long Range Assault Aircraft) program for the Advanced Vertical Lift Systems organization.
* This role will plan and execute projects throughout the rapid prototyping build process from early risk reduction testing to flight testing of the Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) prototypes and production representative vehicles.

Position Responsibilities:

* Establishes the Program manufacturing execution, planning, and work instruction strategy.
* Plan, organize, develop, and sustain metrics to support the effectiveness of the business. Lead planning and process engineering projects, driving innovation while reducing defects and cost.
* Coordinate with Quality Department, Manufacturing Centers, Program IPTs, Airworthiness, and IT to identify and mature manufacturing planning and processes to improve quality and increase operational efficiency.
* Continuously drive process enhancements to assure improvement of critical metrics such as product quality, delivery performance, lead times, cost, safety and product throughput.
* Optimize process maps, process control plans, process FMEAs, test and inspection correlation matrixes and supplier control plans. Must have understanding of engineering drawings and process specifications as related to fabrication and assembly of composites and drives, and the assembly of aircraft and systems.
* Must understand Critical Items program (CSI), identification and management and control of Key Characteristics (KCs) and Critical Characteristics (CCs) within the Engineering and Manufacturing Execution Systems.
* Act as a team leader with skills to manage all project elements including scope, schedule, resources, cost, risk, and quality.
* Become a Subject Matter Expert on Bell systems (CATIA, CAMS, SAP, ENOVIA, etc.) and may support strategy development for developmental program business architecture.
* Support or develop program-level metrics dashboards and supporting databases to provide progress/status for build, material, tooling, and planning.
* May evaluate solutions and provide database support for a tailored planning database and shop floor execution process optimized for Prototype and Production Representative Aircraft build.
* Operate effectively and establish appropriate priorities under ambiguous conditions in a fast-paced environment with numerous concurrent activities.
* Develop risk mitigation plans and solutions as issues arise to avert schedule impacts.
* Interpret program, build, and material metrics and translate this information into actionable activities to ensure program success.
* Identify improvements to the build support processes and take initiative to implement changes within the immediate team and across the program.
* Provide status and present data to the program manager, build team manager, and chief engineer for assigned projects and build/material activities.
