Job Description
Technical Writer, Mid
Key Role:
Write and edit technical documentation, user manuals, and training literature. Develop and contribute to solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity. Work independently with some guidance. Format and edit existing technical documentation and user manuals.
Basic Qualifications:
* Experience with writing technical documents
* Experience with using Microsoft Office
* Experience with formatting files to meet specifications, creating and finalizing acronym lists, and correcting grammar and spelling mistakes
* Knowledge of complex functions in Microsoft Word, including managing heading styles, creation and management of headers, footers and using figure and table titles appropriately to populate in up-front tables
* Ability to review and edit complex technical information for readability
* Ability to learn about technical topics and apply expertise to technical writing efforts
* Ability to work closely with technical SMEs and engineers to edit technical input
* Ability to obtain a security clearance
* BA or BS degree
Additional Qualifications:
* Experience with Acrobat Pro
* Experience with Adobe FrameMaker tools
* Experience with creating and manipulating graphics using tools, such as Visio
* Experience with using and following engineering drawings and processes
* Knowledge of military standards for technical manuals
* BA or BS degree in English, Journalism, Writing, Communications, or similar field
