Work Hours/Shift:

Full Time

You Will Be Responsible For:

* Must be responsible for job knowledge and abilities including understanding and applying policies and procedures, information received during orientation, on the job training and requests of supervisor.

* Completes assigned tasks consistently and accurately and understands the order in which they are to be done.

* Follows and understands instructions and seeks clarification of duties when needed.

* Understands importance of using and mixing chemicals safely and properly, is aware of safety hazards and uses chemicals according to label directions and Material Safety Data Sheets.

* Selects and uses supplies correctly, safely and is not wasteful.

* Understands and follows proper procedures for bio-hazardous waste, solid waste, and recyclable material as described in department policy and procedures.

* Willingly performs other tasks as requested and noted by supervisor.

* Must be responsible for job quality and quantity including adherence to policies and procedures, accuracy, appearance of area and work completed.

* Completes assigned tasks with reasonable promptness and productivity without sacrificing quality as observed by supervisor.

* Responds immediately to stat and special cleaning, upon request form supervisor.

* Seeks additional work without waiting to be asked, as observed by supervisor.

* Maintains janitor closet, and cleaning cart in a clean and orderly condition as observed by supervisor. Incidents of unclean conditions will be evaluated as follows:

* Vacuums and performs special carpet techniques for carpeting per policy and procedure throughout the hospital maintaining carpet in an acceptable condition as observed by supervisor.

* Cleans interior/exterior glass surfaces, light fixtures, vents, elevators, grills and stairwells per schedule or request.

* Assists when needed to set up tables and chairs for special meetings and functions as requested.

* Keeps curtains hooked on rods and changes when required.

* Maintains hard floor surfaces using approved hospital standards for cleanliness.

* Collects and safely transports trash, refuse and soiled linen per policy and procedure when requested.
Qualifications
What You Will Need:

* Must be able to read at least an eighth grade level, write and follow instructions in order to properly and safely use equipment and supplies.

* Able to communicate with peers and supervisors.

* High school education or equivalent preferred.

* One to three months of on the job training required to learn proper procedures and use of equipment and supplies and to learn proper policies and procedures.

* Previous experience of three months in use of carpet and floor care equipment preferred.

Job Summary:

Performs routine floor cleaning, linen and waste disposal procedures throughout the hospital community. Maintains areas in a clean and orderly condition. Operates and maintains powered equipment needed for the job. Performs other duties as instructed by supervisor.
