Senior Corporate Counsel (Litigation)

Job Description

Position Purpose:

This position requires knowledge and expertise managing a wide range of complex litigation. Provide legal advice and counsel to senior level business personnel, including advising management concerning state and federal legislation, regulations and other requirements applicable to Centene business activities and initiatives.

* Serve as a lead resource to Centene departments and entities for research and interpretation of specific healthcare policies and regulations

* Provide legal advice to Centene entities to define and develop solutions to regulatory requirements that impact various product lines and programs
t
* Review regulations, RFPs and other documents affecting such activities, and identifying and appropriately responding to regulatory risks or opportunities.

* Support Government Relations and Compliance departments by assessing and translating complex legislation, rules and regulations into understandable information and facilitating analysis of compliance and implementation implications
t
* Review, draft and negotiate contracts, policies and procedures and related documents
t
* Manage outside counsel and direct, monitor and develop legal strategies in connection with litigation and arbitration disputes

* Direct and conduct training and preventative law activities
t
* Act as a lead Corporate Counsel on projects or certain matters

* For Employment:

* Serve as legal advisor to Centene's human resources department and business units on labor and employment matters and proceedings, develop legal strategies with workplace investigations, dispute resolution, evaluation of potential claims, settlement negotiations, internal fact development and other related activities



Education/Experience:

Graduate of an accredited law school and admitted into a state bar. 10+ years of relevant litigation experience gained in a sophisticated law firm or government environment, and/or in the legal department of a prominent company. Knowledge of Medicare and/or Medicaid insurance, state insurance and HMO regulations preferred.





License/Certification:

State Bar and currently in good standing.

litigation experience required.
