DESCRIPTION

AWS IoT Greengrass team builds device software and web services software that makes it easy for customers to quickly and easily build intelligent edge devices, and remotely manage and operate software on their devices in the field.

We are looking for an innovative engineering manager to own, build, and grow AWS IoT Greengrass web services offering. In this role, you will grow and lead a team that will design, develop, test, and operate large scale distributed systems that runs on several thousands of nodes and can be resilient in different situations like infrastructure failures, network partitions, etc. As a member of the AWS IoT Greengrass leadership team you will help set and meet goals and you will shape our long term technical and business strategy.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about distributed systems, and thrive on building and driving great teams to deliver high quality software. A successful candidate will have an established background in developing customer-facing experiences, a strong technical ability, excellent project management skills, great communication skills, and a motivation to achieve results in a fast paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Responsible for the overall systems development life cycle

Develop the long-term strategy for your programs and translate that into an achievable road map/action plan

Management and execution against project plans and delivery commitments
Management of departmental resources, staffing, mentoring, and enhancing and maintaining a best-of-class engineering team

Work closely with the engineers to architect and develop the best technical design and approach

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical discipline
8+ years of software development experience
5+ years of experience leading software development teams

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience building and operating a large scale distributed system
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong business and technical vision
Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
Exceptional customer relationship skills including the ability to discover the true requirements underlying feature requests, recommend alternative technical and business approaches, and lead engineering efforts to meet aggressive timelines with optimal solutions. AWS-FF-SDM
