Charles Schwabs Alternative Investment Custody Services (AICS) Team is on the forefront of assisting clients and internal business partners with inquiries and processing needs related to the custody of alternative investments. The AICS Team performs a variety of functions including Asset Acceptance, Trading, Distributions, Reconciliation, Transfers, Client Service, Valuation, Risk Reporting and Monitoring, Communications, and Corporate Actions. We focus on maximizing operating leverage by increasing productivity and gaining efficiencies in order to better position Schwab to compete in the marketplace and to reinvest in areas that matter most to our clients. As a member of a highly specialized team of experts, you will be committed to delivering efficient solutions that maximize trust while minimizing risk by owning every client interaction through clients eyes.

Alternative Investments at Schwab are non-publicly-traded assets such as hedge funds, hedge funds of funds, offshore funds, private limited partnerships, limited liability companies, private common stock, commodity pools and non-traded 1933 Act registered REITs.

As an Alternative Investment Specialist, you will pursue our mission and values. You will have the exciting opportunity to:

* Develop an in-depth understanding of securities that do not trade on exchanges or over-the-counter dealer network markets.
* Perform and master a variety of functions across the AICS spectrum acting in a flexible support role to established teams. The Specialist, in partnership with the Team Manager, will review open case volumes throughout AICS to determine where priority and dedicated support will be given.
* Conduct the initial Asset Acceptance Review of securities that are new to the Schwab platform. In this capacity, the Specialist will act as the gatekeeper to Schwab platform, allowing Schwab to become custodian on securities that adhere to the AI Custody Policy.
* Communicate directly with principals from the fund/issuer, administrators, transfer agents and third party vendors via phone and email.
* Engage with high net worth Investor Services clients by providing a full spectrum of services involving alternative investments through the AICS phone hotline and email channels.
* Facilitate purchases of Alternative Investments in addition to processing redemptions and distributions. Process incoming and outgoing transfers ensuring custody requirements are met.
* Problem solve and resolve transactional requests that are not able to be completed straight through.
* Meet expected service level agreements with respect to case reviews and additional team processing responsibilities while providing guidance related to complex problems.
* Assist manager in identifying areas of opportunity and enhancing process efficiencies. Management of special projects as they arise and participation in Sprint ceremonies throughout the Sprint cycle.
* Create and leverage partnerships with various teams throughout the firm, including multiple teams within Alternative Investment Custody Services, numerous groups within Operational Services and Advisor Services and Investor Services support teams.

What you have

* Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience
* 5 years minimum experience in the securities, brokerage or financial services industry or equivalent (banking or customer service).
* Time Management awareness and the ability to prioritize workloads
* Exceptional/pragmatic business judgment combined with outstanding communication and relationship skills
* Possess a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
* Demonstrated outstanding performance, persistent and pro-active leader, detailed oriented, and driven to exceed expectations
* Demonstrated exceptional written, verbal, presentation, and social skills.
* Strong problem solver and decision making skills
* Demonstrated general understanding of public markets, secondary markets and private markets and understanding of the nuances and challenges of such.
* Familiarity with Alternative or Non-Standard Assets.
* Intermediate computer skills including Word, Visio and Access
