Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for a Principal Solutions Architect who is passionate about helping public sector customers build infrastructures and applications at scale.

Our Principal Solutions Architects are very experienced technologists with technical breadth and depth in IT infrastructure coupled with strong interpersonal skills. As a Principal Solutions Architect, you will work directly with some of our largest customers to enable innovation through continuous deployment across technology stacks and demonstrate best practices around advanced cloud solutions.
You will partner with Sales, Professional Services, and several other AWS teams to help our customers craft highly scalable, flexible and resilient cloud architectures that address customer business problems and accelerate the adoption of our services. You will provide prescriptive guidance across networking, storage, operating systems, virtualization, AI/ML, RDBMS & NoSQL databases, Big Data, and mid-tier technologies (application integration, security, in-memory caches).
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of large scale computing solutions and experience leading deep architecture discussions. They must be self-motivated with a demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, products, and technical challenges and have a passion for educating, training, and designing cloud solutions for enterprise customers.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Minimum of 10 years enterprise IT application experience that includes at least 2 years of hands-on software development, DevOps engineering, or systems architecture.
· 7+ years design/implementation/consulting experience with distributed applications
· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering/MIS, Math or related field or equivalent experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· AWS Professional certifications are a plus.
· Professional experience architecting/operating solutions built on AWS
· Strong written and presentation communication skills
· Demonstrated ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly
· Experience working within software development or Internet-related industries
· Experience migrating or transforming legacy customer solutions to the cloud
· Experience with solution-selling methodologies
· Graduate degree a plus
· Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
· Meets/exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles requirements for this role
· Meets/exceeds Amazon’s functional/technical depth and complexity
