DESCRIPTION

IoT Systems and Solutions is a newly formed engineering organization in AWS IoT focused on building the solutions and services for AWSs largest industrial customers and maximize the business value they receive from AWS. We work closely with key customers to deliver new, innovative services in the Industrial IoT (IIoT) and help our customer achieve business outcomes and transformation with AWS.

As a Software Development Engineer, you will deliver customer-facing AWS services that will delight our customers in and end-to-end fashion, from the initial definition of the experience to the architecture and development of the service to its operation in production. You will work with engineers at all levels in an environment that fosters personal growth on challenging projects that solve real-world problem.

Were flexible when people occasionally need to work from home. We generally keep core in-office hours from 10am to 5pm. We are builder-operators of our services at AWS and have a modest on-call rotation where youll participate approximately once every 2 months. We dont like getting paged in the middle of the night or on the weekend, so we work to ensure that our systems are fault tolerant. When we do get paged, we work together to resolve the root cause so that we dont get paged for the same issue twice. This is incredibly important to us because a stable operational load is indicative of high service reliability for our customers.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
Programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C including object-oriented design
1+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.
Bachelors degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent professional experience
4+ years professional experience in production software development
2+ years experience in cloud development
Computer Science fundamentals in object -oriented design, data structure, algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis
Proficiency in at least one of the programming languages such as C, C++, Java, Node.js, Scala, Python, or GO
Working experience of professional software engineering practice for the full development life cycle, including code reviews, source control management, build process, testing, and operations

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Masters degree in Computer Science or equivalent
Experience in building highly available services that span Edge and Cloud
Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to production
Experience with highly distributed systems
Working experience with IoT/M2M
