This critical leadership position is accountable for global design and implementation of the A2R transformation. Baxter Global Finance currently has 50% of the resources dedicated to A2R which is significantly lagging: the optimal organization model (3x the resources expected), global process standardization, and a clear automation roadmap leverage technology. In conjunction with Corporate Controllers and regional accounting controllers, this role assesses and articulates business requirements, analyze design options, seek out and assess process simplification opportunities. This position will not only span the global landscape but also the multi-faceted organization supporting accounting, through manufacturing, commercial, and other key operating entities.
Core Job Responsibilities
* Must be viewed as the process leader within the Finance function and other functions/divisions across the organization.
* Design and Implement the Global Record-To-Report Process Roadmap to deliver targeted business benefits and ease of process use for the end user. Key sub-process components include, month end closing, journal entries, account reconciliations, Intercompany, Fixed Assets, Cash and Banking, Royalty, Inventory including Excess and Obsolete and others.
* Set up and execute process for facilitation of communication across A2R community globally to enable effective sharing of best practices across the globe
* Collaborate with Controllership, Tax and Treasury, Corporate BP and A and Service Delivery teams to ensure global alignment of priorities, management and influence of results in a matrixed environment.
* Provide process expertise for shared service migrations, business integrations including mergers, acquisitions and divestiture activities.
* Define and implement KPIs and performance measures associated with the A2R process. Lead benchmarking activities and continuous assessment of global process performance measures, driving measurable improvements in the process over time.
* Effective financial stewardship while designing process in A2R while working closely with Internal and External Audit
* Collaborate with IT on system implementation/enhancement initiatives to the extent impacting A2R Process and deployment of other enabling technologies such as metrics dashboard.
* Identify, drive, and monitor Continuous Improvement related to the Record-To-Report process and create opportunities to bring service innovation to the organization.
* Thoughtful about change management and planning accordingly as part of continuous Improvement as well as implementing the transformation roadmap for A2R.
* Ensure adequate and timely root cause analysis to understand problem drivers and implementation of necessary corrections and/or changes.
* Identify and drive process automation including robotics for the process area.
* In consultation with business/functions and service delivery teams, support the identification, prioritization, and implementation of process improvements.
* Participate and contribute for Process Council meetings for A2R end to end process.
* Drive adoption of global process standards and gain buy-in from key stakeholders. Key role in enabling global harmonization of processes.
* Establish and sustain process change control for Record-To-Report process.
* Identify and lead associated change management activities for service delivery teams, which is essential for ensuring execution of process as planned.

Education & Experience/Training
* BS degree in Accounting required
* Accounting certification such as ACCA, CPA, CMA or equivalent required
* Experience at public accounting preferred
* Experience leading past global A2R transformations preferred
* Minimum 10 years of Finance and Accounting experience in a complex multinational organization
* Demonstrated experience leading accounting and/or finance teams in a complex and global environment including in a shared service/SSC environment.
* Full P&L and Balance sheet experience for a complex global organization a plus.
* Experience of executing major change and transformation initiatives globally
* Strong understanding of compliance and background in designing and implementing financial controls.
* In-depth understanding of Oracle, SAP or other major ERP systems capabilities.
* In-depth understanding of month-end close processes, KPIs for driving improvements, governance cadence and driving process improvements to remove friction in closing the books
* Strong understanding of specific accounting processes like Intercompany, fixed assets, account reconciliations and cash and banking.
* Experience with use of Robotics, Dashboards and Analytics for reporting
* Formal continuous improvement training (e.g. LEAN / Six Sigma) desirable.
* Ability to work with others in a formal process for solving issues and problems.
* Stakeholder management experience with ability to influence & persuade key stakeholders and to constructively deal with conflicts.
