Applied Materials is seeking a Lean Six Sigma, Technical Continuous Improvement Director to drive optimization and accuracy of the sales planning/forecasting processes. This role will lead complex improvement initiatives in a matrixed, cross-functional business environment. Key areas of focus will include the systems, tools, and capabilities within the organization pertaining to Sales and Operations Planning/Forecasting.

Key Responsibilities

* Guide Champions in project selection and scope, assuring linkage between projects and business and customer priorities.
* Establish strong relationships with customer-facing functions (Sales, Business Management, and Marketing), Engineering, and Manufacturing to ensure thorough alignment of the end-to-end value chain for optimal business results.
* Conduct Business Process Maturity assessments to baseline processes and identify improvement opportunities. Based on this assessment, design, implement, and manage process improvement initiatives utilizing Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
* Facilitate groups through process mapping, root cause analysis, brainstorming, business impact assessments, gap analysis, and project planning.
* Train, mentor and coach Champions, Black Belts and Green Belts in the use of Six Sigma tools and methodology to ensure timely completion of projects with expected client results.
* Understand data trends and drive quantified results by designing and deploying analytical systems and processes.
* Develop rigorous control plans, communications, risk assessments, and maintenance of documentation.
* Employ project/program management skills related to overall project tracking, deliverables management, action item tracking, meeting minutes, team communications, and presentations. Keep stakeholders apprised of project status and defined deliverables.
* Champion change management across all levels of the organization and prioritize areas of improvement.
* Comply with all IP guidelines.
* Comply with all safety procedures and consistently demonstrate safety as a value.

Functional Knowledge

* Direct experience with demonstrated success and financial results leading Six Sigma transactional & manufacturing projects.
* Technical mastery of Six Sigma tools and methodologies including DMAIC, DFSS, and Lean.
* An effective change agent who is able to implement strategic initiatives in an organization.
* Must possess effective project management skills and the ability to influence at all levels of an organization.
* Experience documenting and optimizing end-to-end Order-to-Cash processes.
* Solid understanding of sales and operations planning process and key system functions related to demand planning, short/medium/long-range forecasting, master scheduling, and inventory management.

Business Expertise

* Utilize benchmarking to identify best practices, both internal and external to the organization.
* Aware of the competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market.
* Comfortable presenting findings and recommendations to key executives.
* Semiconductor industry experience preferred.

* Bachelor's Degree required (Business/Engineering/Supply Chain)
* Masters Degree preferred
* Black Belt strongly preferred
* 10+ Years of professional experience required
* 5+ Years of Continuous Improvement experience required
