JOB SUMMARY
The Regional Account Manager (Poultry/Food Manufacturing and Storage, and Healthcare segments) position within SCS National Accounts serves to develop relationships and provide superior customer service to large nationally based customers, and leverage those relationships for system growth through products, services, and electrification sales. This position ensures that account relationships and plans are developed and executed for each assigned customer to achieve growth and satisfaction targets. As the main corporate point of contact for Southern Company to these customers, the Regional Account Manager must understand rate structures, customer choice, end-use technologies, energy efficiency, customer service delivery, products and services, as well as possess a consultative approach to working with customers and internal partners. This position requires overnight travel as needed. This position will be located in the operating company regional offices dependent on the selected candidate's location.
To ensure the successful delivery of services to these customers, the Regional Account Manager will work closely with Southern Company OpCo's and subsidiaries by building and maintaining relationships with Southern Company colleagues to capitalize on marketing plans, energy efficiency programs, and service delivery. The Regional Account Manager will develop and maintain broad based relationships throughout the customers organizations with an emphasis at the energy/facilities management, logistics, and executives.
Beyond this position's internal responsibilities, the Regional Account Manager is required to stay current with industry trends and evolving state and federal regulations to ensure external factors are considered in the development of all strategies, recommendations, and decisions.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education:
* 4-year degree in marketing, management, finance, economics, or engineering strongly preferred
* MBA a plus
Job Experience
* Substantial experience in sales/marketing within Southern Company or another utility company preferred
* Direct customer interface, problem resolution, team and individual project management experience desired.
* Account Management experience preferred

* Knowledge of power delivery practices, as well as OpCo rates, policies, and procedures.
* Thorough understanding of electrifications technologies, distributed generation, energy services, and the ability to learn and adapt to new product offerings is required.

* Experience in making sales presentations and developing sales proposals, demonstrated track record of successful sales, and the ability to recognize when to bring in outside expertise to make the sale.
* Ability to understand financial measurements from a customer perspective and to be able to communicate effectively with customers on financial issues. Understanding of company's profitability models (Pricem, etc.), including thorough understanding of factors influencing financial results.
* Open to performance management feedback to improve skills and for continuous learning.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
* Must be available for overnight travel up to 50% of time.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
* Act as the corporate/executive point of contact and secure strong corporate level relationships with major customers in the Poultry, Healthcare, and Cold Storage industry
* Act as a consultant for the customer by understanding the customer's business. Seek to provide creative solutions through company products and services.
* Coordinate corporate/executive level contacts with customers. Provide a feedback loop to OpCo and subsidiary marketing teams, and effectively partner with local account managers throughout the system
* Build effective relationships, at multiple levels of client organizations, and leverage those relationships to execute sales strategies that benefit the customer and grow business for Southern Company
* Develop and execute on-going account plan strategies for specified customers. Create and maintain customized call plans to manage and document account activities.
* Collect, record, maintain, and update customer-related data and correspondence/contracts via systems provided.
* Be a voice of the customer for both internal and external communications.
* Demonstrate trust, responsiveness, value, and knowledge by contacting the customer regularly, anticipating needs, uncovering opportunities, and responding to requests promptly.
* Demonstrate comprehensive and current knowledge of pertinent technical, business, regulatory, and industry issues related to key customers to gain credibility.
* Recognize and utilize the correct company resources that will solve a customer problem while achieving company business goals.
* Be responsible for personal development to maintain skills necessary to reach long- and short-term goals.
* Share knowledge, information, and past experiences with other team members, and with our OpCo and subsidiary partners
* Serve in a coordinating role for field marketing representatives/account managers to promote a highly collaborative effort in servicing the customer.
* Perform all account management work within the specified budget.
