Job Description
The Southwest Division has an opening for a Wine Steward at store 1566 in Chandler, AZ; this is a union position and is not bonus eligible.
General Summary: Responsible for operating the assigned liquor department and implementing all operations, marketing and merchandising strategies in and for the assigned department, including the Fine Wine Program. This position requires some knowledge of all wine categories and outstanding customer service skills. Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: * Establish and build customer relations * Assist in educating customers in making informed wine purchasing decisions. * Executes the corporate plan to exceed liquor department sales and profit numbers. * Wine Stewards primary role is to hand sell to consumers and trade up purchases. * Assist in all departmental replenishment. * Maintain all Alcoholic Beverage department schematics, including warehouse and DSD. * Assists management in reducing and preventing product shrink in the liquor department. Qualifications: The following are preferred or desired unless specifically stated: * Able to work flexible schedule including nights, weekends and peak hours. (Primary work hours are 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. including weekends) * Complies with dress code consistent with employee handbook and store standards. * Demonstrates Superior Customer Service. * Demonstrates necessary technical skills and knowledge of all wine/liquor categories. * Superior customer service with an outgoing and positive attitude. * Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
Hourly Rate: $18.67 per hour

In 1939, Joe Albertson, a former Safeway district manager, took $5,000 he saved and $7,500 he borrowed from his wife’s Aunt Bertie, and partnered with L.S. Skaggs to open his first Albertsons store on 16th and State Streets in Boise, Idaho. Joe knew the keys of running a really great store, and it was all about working hard for the customers: give them the products they want, at a fair price, with lots of tender, loving care. Joe was innovative, too. He had one of the first in-store magazine racks in the country along with a scratch bakery and fresh ice cream made in-store. He worked hard, seven days a week, on his vision to build his company, and through his inspiring work ethic and tireless
determination to run the best store, the first store thrived. Just two years later, he had opened two other stores in neighboring communities and grew the fledgling company’s sales to over $1 million by the end of 1941.
