We're seeking an experienced Mail Inserter/Bindery Operator with well-rounded experience for 1st and 2nd shift, working 12 hour shifts.
Mailing/Inserter operators are responsible for setting up and running high speed Pitney Bowes Flowmaster automated inserting equipment in a fast paced, deadline oriented plant environment. Their primary focus is on operating intelligent computer controlled inserters with inline folder accumulators. Inserter operators must be very mechanically inclined, technically oriented, attentive to detail and extremely quality conscious. They are responsible for adhering to detailed quality control procedures and maintaining professional standards that produce a high quality product while meeting production goals and objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Follow all job schedules and meet established deadlines.
* Set up and operate machines based on job specifications, completing all required system entries.
* Monitor quality, output and productivity during operation.
* Apply understanding of confidentiality to maintain compliance as pertains to critical mail and the companies' quality standards and procedures.
* Inspect equipment for safety issues, performing general maintenance and minor repairs when necessary.
Required Skills
* Thorough knowledge of the set up, adjustment, procedures, capabilities and limitations of mailing/inserting equipment to perform the full range of standard and specialized operations required to complete a finished product.
* Ability to read and interpret written work which indicates the number and sequence of machine operations required to complete the work and maintain dimensional accuracy in accordance with instructions provided.
* Comprehensive knowledge of machinability of different paper weights, sizes, kinds and colors so as to be able to identify paper conditions (i.e. excessive moisture or curling that frequently requires additional machine adjustment).
* Must have very good knowledge of technology to include computers and software programs.
* Familiarity with basic mathematics (i.e. decimals, metric units) to understand dimensional requirements contained in job orders and to make more complicated adjustments.
* Ability to use the full range of standard and specialized tools and devices to adjust and maintain the functional accuracy and operating conditions of the bindery machines.
* Skill in making adjustments to powered machines using hand tools (i.e. wrenches, screwdrivers, punches, knives) as well as more specialized hand tools, usually furnished by the machine manufacturer.
* Skill in operating complicated bindery equipment such as folders, cutters, collators, stitchers, drills, binding/gluing machines.
* Must have very good verbal and written communication skills sufficient to explain methods and/or procedures when completing assignments and to communicate effectively with management and employees in other departments.
* Requires very good organizational skills sufficient to accomplish work by established deadlines and ability to coordinate phases of work with others.
* Must be able to stand for long periods of time and lift up to 35 lbs, regularly.
Required Experience
Experience setting up and operating Pitney Bowes mailing/inserting equipment, required.
Experience with 1:1 match mailing systems, preferred.
