DESCRIPTION
Amazon Transportation Services (ATS) Intermodal Procurement team owns securing intermodal capacity for the ATS Network, managing all aspects of rate procurement, carrier vetting, long term capacity planning and invoicing. This role also supports key strategic initiatives with Amazon Managed Intermodal which is ATSs in-house intermodal capability. We are looking for a data-driven leader with a passion for innovation and problem solving based on quantitative methods. This leader will have thrive in ambiguity and obsess about our internal and external customers.
As a Senior Intermodal Program Manager, you will lead a Procurement Team to drive strategic capacity solutions across the ATS NA Intermodal Network. You will be responsible for building processes, systems, and mechanisms to optimize cost and transit time across the network. You will drive execution through data-driven decisions and analytical problem-solving. You will be accountable for cost, network design, daily execution and long-term step-function improvements. Additional responsibilities include supporting a diverse and inclusive team by coaching and mentoring, nurturing positive employee relations and leading by example.
Responsibilities:
Lead and supervise the Intermodal Procurement Team.
Responsible for the overall tactical procurement quality, SLA, and customer experience
Develop team for career progression
Create and nurture recognition and communication programs to establish great work culture for the team through Connections and active feedback
Responsible for weekly planning, organizational staffing
Deep dive intra-day and intra-week trends and create action plans to address operational issues in coordination with down-stream customers
Own taking proactive steps to ensure that best practices are shared across procurement operations
Lead annual and semi-annual multi-million-dollar procurement events
Negotiate with internal stakeholders and external service providers including railroads, chassis providers, drayage providers and intermodal services providers.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors degree
5+ years in procurement and/or operations management, finance
2+ years in roles requiring complex negotiations
Experience managing a team
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects - prioritization, planning and task delegation
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
7+ years of professional experience
In-depth understanding of best-in-class procurement practices, operations, and/or command center
Ability to think both strategically and tactically with strong attention to detail and bias for action
Excellent creative thinking skills with emphasis on developing innovative solutions to solve complex problems that may not have one clear answer
Demonstrated ability to influence at the executive level internally and with suppliers
High degree of business ethics and accountability
Strong business and financial acumen
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
Strong SQL and Excel skills
