DESCRIPTION
Amazon Lab126 is an inventive research and development company that designs and engineers high-profile consumer electronics. Lab126 began in 2004 as a subsidiary of Amazon.com, Inc., originally creating the best-selling Kindle family of products. Since then, we have produced groundbreaking devices like Fire tablets, Fire TV, and Amazon Echo. What will you help us create?
The Role:
The Device Quality Manager (DQM) is responsible for ensuring that Amazon products are manufactured for quality. During the new product development (NPI), the DQM will develop an out of box audit (OBA) process for factory production based on critical to customer use cases of the product. With guidance from Quality Engineering Manager (QEM) and product SW QA team, DQM will work with the contract manufacturer in delivering a robust OBA process that validates product HW/SW functionality and product cosmetics characteristics to ensure that Lab126 delivers high quality products to customers. The DQM will also own factory quality in the sustaining phase of the product. The successful candidate will monitor production performance against established quality goals by conducting regular factory audits, partnering with Site Technical Manager (STM) to lead full investigation and failure analysis leading to root cause determination and subsequent closed loop corrective action. DQM must possess a high sense of urgency when managing critical issues. DQM will lead factory quality lessons learned and institutes remedies to prevent reoccurrence of such issues.
In addition to DQM role, US based DQM will also be responsible for -
Drives OBA automations in factories by work closely with SDE to develop and implement automated test methodologies using computer vision and machine learning.
Works with design team & QA team (HW & SW) to understand new features (Ultrasound, Halo, WHA, Dolby Audio, Local ASR) and other NTIs in developing OBA test cases for deployment in factories.
Obtains alignment on OBA test plans by working with product core team and product management by facilitating OBA demos using QEM lab in Sunnyvale.
Develops and maintains OBA test case database that can be leveraged by in-region DQMs to create OBA test plans. Promotes consistency in feature testing and driving lessons learned across products and CMs
Provides SME support to RL (reverse logistics) team in implementing OBA test plans at test and repair partners for refurbished business unit
Promotes OBA test coverage improvements by reviewing program NuDD risks and field data from previous gen product performance.
Represents DQM function in core teams working on US based CM programs and other repair/rework initiatives.
