Job Description

CODEX Cyber Engineers perform software vulnerability research (VR), reverse engineering (RE), and development tasks in support of our customers missions. They work in small teams of 4-10 engineers to discover vulnerabilities in software, firmware, and hardware systems, under the supervision of experienced senior cyber engineers. They are expected to be able to reverse engineer and analyze compiled binaries using industry tools like IDA and Ghidra. They develop proofs of concept (PoC) exploits for discovered vulnerabilities and communicate their findings in writing. They develop software tools as needed to perform their VR and RE tasks more effectively. Lastly, they develop code, as tasked, to perform low level system functions on a variety of software platforms and hardware architectures.

Key responsibilities:
* Perform software vulnerability research tasks as assigned
* Perform software reverse engineering tasks as assigned
* Perform software development tasks as assigned

Security Clearance & Other Requirements:
This position requires the ability to obtain a government security clearance. Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Required Skills:
* Software development in C, C++, Java, Python, or other high-level programming languages
* Software security fundamentals, including common classes of software bugs and memory protection techniques (stack canaries, DEP, ASLR, etc)
* Program analysis fundamentals, including use of debuggers (gdb, Immunity, windbg, etc)

Desired Skills:
* Dynamic software analysis, e.g. fuzzing (AFL, etc)
* Static software analysis (binwalk, IDA, ghidra, etc)
* Software exploit development

Required Education:
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field obtained by summer 2021. A GPA of 3.0 + is strongly desired.
