Basic Job Functions:

The role of the Quality Technician includes but is not limited to, the safe and efficient preparation, testing, and analysis of samples for all Roll Mill products. The successful candidate will be responsible for cutting samples in a timely manner, operating sample prep and test equipment, completing sample analysis and entering data from samples into computer systems. The Quality Technician must be able to identify quality defects not only by test results, but also by visual inspection of the samples. The Quality Technician needs to be able to quickly and clearly communicate any quality issues and have the courage to stop the process if necessary. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead and uphold safety practices, policies, procedures and housekeeping standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma/ GED

Microsoft Office experience

Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including scheduled and unscheduled overtime, rotating shifts, weekends and holidays as scheduled

Preferred Qualifications:

Familiar with reading specifications and understanding tolerances

Understanding of material flow in manufacturing processes
Experience with lab testing equipment, procedures and defined maintenance

Able to assist in trouble shooting problems, mechanically savvy
Internal auditing and process control experience
ISO and quailty management system experience

This segment also engages in the piling distribution business. The Raw Materials segment produces direct reduced iron (DRI); processes ferrous and nonferrous metals; brokers ferrous and nonferrous metals, pig iron, DRI, and hot briquetted iron; supplies ferro-alloys; and processes ferrous and nonferrous scrap metal, as well as engages in the natural gas drilling operations. This segment sells its ferrous scrap to electric arc furnace steel mills and foundries for manufacturing process; and nonferrous scrap metal to aluminum can producers, secondary aluminum smelters, steel mills and other processors, and consumers of various nonferrous metals.

The company offers its products through its in-house sales forces; and internal distribution and trading companies. The company was founded in 1940 and is based in Charlotte, North Carolina.
