Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is currently seeking a Principal / Sr. Principal Test Engineer w/ a current/active clearance to join our team in Northridge, CA.

The selected individual will perform test and troubleshooting at the system level and lower level assemblies in order to understand the root cause of failures as well as coming up with a solution. This role will include working with operations in order to coordinate testing efforts and work on processes in order to optimize performance and production of the system.

Job Responsibilities:
-Develop technical solutions to complex test issues and troubleshooting
-Use different applications in order to help perform analysis
-Perform tests by following ATPs or technical memos.
- Work with internal and external customers to define and document instrumentation, data requirements, and test planning including acquisition, processing, and analysis to satisfy test objectives
-Improve processes where holes are found

This position can be filled as Principal (T03) or a Sr. Principal (T04). The basic qualifications for each level are listed below.

'Basic Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications for a Principal (T03) are:
1. Bachelor's degree in a technical or STEM program from an accredited institution.
2. Five (5) or more years of experience in test engineering or closely related field.
3. Must have a current/active Secret clearance that has been issued or adjudicated within the past five (5) years.
4. Experience working independently with minimal direction and acting as a team lead for larger test efforts.

5. Experience communicating effectively and clearly to present technical approaches and findings.

Basic Qualifications for a Sr. Principal (T04) are:
1. Bachelor's degree in a technical or STEM program from an accredited institution.
2. Nine (9) or more years of experience in test engineering or closely related field.
3. Must have a current/active Secret clearance that has been issued or adjudicated within the past five (5) years.

4. Must be proficient in the use of Logic Analyzers, Software Based Debugging tools, In-Circuit Emulators, RF Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers, and Signal Generators.
5. Experience working independently with minimal direction and acting as a team lead for larger test efforts.

6. Experience communicating effectively and clearly to present technical approaches and findings.

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Experience with using different test equipment, i.e. oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, network analyzer, DMM, signal generator
2. Designs, develops, and implements testing methods and equipment
3. Experience using Microsoft Office
4. Experience in EMI testing
