Job Summary

Leads team members to identify, manage, and execute the plants process improvement opportunities. Manages production staff to attain production and quality goals. Identifies problems or bottlenecks in production processes and resolves issues. Ensures production resources including materials, equipment and human resources are available as needed to maintain production schedules. Supports continuous improvement goals in safety, quality, cost and customer service. Responsible for managing and owning various functions of the business and creating an engaged and team oriented work force in order to improve business results.

Position Responsibilities

* Ensure absolute quality and safety in all production activities.
* Ensure proper training exists for all production employees.
* Ensure proper sanitation processes are in place.
* Ensure SAP requirements are met for assigned departments.
* Interact with other departments about production and sanitation statuses.
* Monitor and report employee performance.
* Manage and assist line personnel as needed.
* Attend and participate in all production/safety/quality/sanitation meetings.
* Evaluate and review departmental budget.
* Make budget requests.
* Troubleshoot line problems with limited assistance.
* Function with limited supervision.
* Communicate with maintenance to ensure proper machine functioning.
* Communicate employee needs to Shift Management.
* Schedule and post overtime hours.
* Conduct duties specific to areas of plant.
* Collaborate with Human Resources in dealing with employee corrective action procedures
* Responsible for reporting any food safety issues to management

Position Qualifications

* BS Degree strongly preferred
* 3+ years of production supervisory experience preferred or proven leadership skills / ability
* Understanding of Food Safety Guidelines/Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and safe practice and procedures
* Understanding of government regulations (FDA, USDA)
* SAP experience required
* Understanding of HACCP
* Basic supervisory skills
* Union experience preferred
* Food manufacturing and/or packaging skills required
* Must be results oriented with strong people skills
* Ability to be flexible and adapt to all circumstances
* Requires competencies in building effective teams, conflict management, and motivation.
* Flexibility with shifts.
* Problem solving skills are essential

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, and feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; taste and smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee will be exposed to a noisy environment that varies from hot to cold in temperature.
