The Mental Health Technician functions as a member of the interdisciplinary team to assess the functional abilities, impairments, and needs of each patient and address these individually and through psycho-education groups. The Mental Health Technician leads daily educational groups focused on essential skills patients need to manage their illness as well as their social environment. The Technician documents patient participation, progress and changes in condition, contributes to the formulation of individualized plans of treatment, and performs regular assessment of patient progress to ensure maximum therapeutic benefit. Assists in chart maintenance, environment of care, patient care and transportation as needed. Works under the direction of licensed nursing staff.

Education:

Must be able to read and write the equivalent of eighth (8th) grade English. Completion of a program for nursing assistance is strongly preferred. Completion of some post-secondary education in therapeutic or social services discipline is strongly preferred.
