JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
Responsible for planning and execution of all vegetation related activities (including cycle maintenance, reactive, capital construction clearing, herbicide application, danger tree removal, skyline trimming and storm response) in Entergy Mississippi. Responsible for Contract management of multiple vendors to safely execute all work programs and is the primary contact for all (internal & external) vegetation related inquiries. The Vegetation ROW maintenance programs are designed to minimize tree contact with distribution facilities that could result in damage to facilities and power outages.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
* Oversee Entergy staff (6) and multiple contractors/contract employees (150+).
* Oversees and implements work plan for minimizing negative effectives of vegetation overgrowth.
* Ensures program requirements and execution meet system standards and regulatory requirements.
* Develops and manages the annual Jurisdictional vegetation maintenance budget.
* Works with Supply Chain to manage vegetation contracts and bidding process.
* Responsible for ensuring contractor personnel and equipment are available to safely complete all vegetation programs within time and financial commitments.
* Support and advocate latest VM technology to help Entergy become a premier utility.
* Leader in the organization through effective coordination and strong collaboration of activities with the line operations, design & field engineering and customer service teams to ensure service levels and accountability.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Minimum education required of the position
Bachelor's degree in a related field (Arborist, Horticulturalist preferred) or equivalent work experience.
Minimum experience required of the position
5-7 years experience in utility arboriculture or related field.
Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position
Forestry discipline preferred; previous contractor management experience preferred.
Any certificates, licenses, etc. required for the position
Licensed Arborist (strongly desired not required).
