Project Manager (Shipyard)
We are currently seeking a Project Manager for our San Diego, CA location.
In this position, you will participate in the conceptual development of a project and oversee its organization, scheduling, and implementation. You will plan, direct, coordinate, and budget materials and person-hours. The Project Manager will be responsible for communicating through subordinate supervisory personnel, intentions concerning the alteration, repair, or maintenance of ships and ships systems.
You will demonstrate success by:
* Establishing and maintaining production schedules to ensure project is completed as scheduled and within budget.
* Making decisive decisions concerning project goals.
* Aggressively seeking legitimate growth, pricing, and submit change orders, draft and submit conditions reports in a timely fashion.
* Assuring that contractual obligations are completed in accordance with both occupational safety/health and quality requirements.
* Maintaining and scheduling personnel to assure project budgets and schedules are met.
* Assuring material orders are scheduled to meet production requirements.
* Maintaining accurate cost-to-complete estimations, submit budget revisions to keep Deltek reports accurate.
* Preparing and submitting weekly highlight report for assigned projects, to include job progress summary, problem areas (including proposed solutions) update production schedule and GFM/CFM status.
* Work aggressively with supervisory personnel, customers and subcontractors to discuss and resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints and production issues.
* Develop new customers and maintain a good working relationship with company's established customers.
* Express ideas and give directions clearly and precisely both orally and in writing
* Ability to perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
* High School Diploma or GED required
* Must be a U.S. Citizen or Legal Alien
* Three (3) to five (5) years experience in managing production efforts in a shipyard environment
* U.S. Navy School preferred
* Knowledgeable of the NAVSEA Standard Items, complex blueprints, drawings, and contractual requirements.
* Must be familiar with Deltek/Costpoint system and other Microsoft computer programs
* Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and written.
* Familiar with standard practices, processes and materials necessary to perform repair activities.
* Must be able to communicate and motivate supervisory and field personnel to accomplish desired goals
