Position Overview
The Head of Wholesale Lending Services (WLS) Real Estate Vertical is a senior position reporting to the Global Head of Wholesale Lending Services firmwide utility. This position is highly visible and will collaborate with clients, lenders and business leaders and cross functional stakeholders to deliver loan operational excellence powered by a diverse and inclusive organization focused on driving continuous innovation and automation.
In addition to serving on the WLS Leadership team, this position will be a key partner to the Commercial Real Estate Banking Leadership team whom focus on providing property owners, developers and investors the financial resources they need for real estate investments large and small. Examples include multifamily lending, commercial mortgage lending, community development lending and other products and services.
The position includes the leadership of 250+ employees across 5+ global sites including Dallas/Ft. Worth, Bengaluru, Phoenix while partnering closely with various global centers of excellence and shared services.
Responsibilities
* Manage the end-to-end WLS Real Estate Lending operational vision and roadmap, ensuring timely, quality, cost-effective delivery of results
* Lead a global team across multiple locations, driving a diverse and inclusive culture focused on high employee satisfaction and retention
* Think and act strategically and tactically to design and implement deliverables, with the flexibility to adjust to new innovations, regulations and priorities
* Partner closely with cross-functional stakeholders across the CB and other LOBs as required
* Design and implement the appropriate governance and organizational structure to deliver transformational initiatives
* Communicate at an executive level to provide regular updates to senior leadership of the Commercial Bank and the firm, including presentations, executive summaries and summary metrics
* Develop and implement business strategy, and influence change through effective relationship management across a wide network of partners
* Actively participate, syndicate, innovate and support process, policy and technology initiatives designed to mitigate risk; improve speed, quality and overall efficiency; improve service and lower costs
* Promote a culture of continuous improvement with discipline around end-to-end workflow/process skills; participate in the review and recommendation of operational systems and procedures
* Work with peers throughout the firm to remain current on process, legal, regulatory and technology changes impacting the business
* Represent WLS in external meetings with regulators and vendors
* Leverage proven financial acumen to manage budget, identify and calculate cost savings, and direct capacity planning/project allocation
Qualifications
* Bachelors degree required; MBA or related Masters Degree is a plus
* Minimum 15 years of hands-on operations experience
* Minimum 15 years of management experience including complex, geographically dispersed teams
* Demonstrated experience managing and collaborating with multiple teams, coordinating across different cross-functional initiatives and reaching consensus with diverse stakeholders
* Ability to move initiatives forward in a cross-functional and matrixed organizational model
* Strong team player with ability to work with teams at all levels of the organization
* Vocal in challenging business-as-usual operating models and recommending innovative improvements
* Ability to work independently and professionally interact with key stakeholders
* Excellent analytical skills, communications and presentation skills
* Current and practical knowledge of wholesale lending businesses and the regulations that impact lending
* Proven track record of formulating innovative ideas and delivering complex, large scale initiatives
* 10+ years of experience designing and successfully leading large scale operational change management programs; experience within large Financial Services firms preferred
* Demonstrated experience managing and collaborating with multiple teams, coordinating across different cross-functional initiatives, and reaching consensus with diverse stakeholders
* Excellent judgement and independent decision-making ability
