We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Senior Scientist with expertise in molecular biology and transcriptomics to join our Neuroscience group at our company's West Point Site. This exciting role will allow a talented scientist the opportunity to support novel target discovery for psychiatric, pain, and neurodegenerative disease areas.

Primary Responsibilities:

The primary responsibilities include the design and execution of Omics studies, including single-cell Omics, from a diverse set of tissues, and execute validation of discoveries using genetic and pharmacological manipulation in relevant systems. The candidate will be supporting ongoing projects and will be a part of a collaborative team. The role will also require the ability to independently keep up with relevant scientific literature, implement new technical expertise and assay development, and be an active participant in the scientific dialogue in project meetings and internal/external scientific meetings.

Educational and experience requirements

* Degree in Neuroscience or related discipline:

* Ph.D. and at least one-year of relevant work experience, or a Masters degree and at least 3 years of relevant work experience, or a Bachelors degree and at least 6 years of relevant work experience.

Required skills and experience

* Expertise in molecular biology and transcriptomic techniques, such as DNA/RNA isolation, library preparation, qPCR, Western blot, and ELISA.

* Experience with histology methods and imaging assays, such as RNAscope, immunohistochemistry and high-content imaging.

* Experience with cell culture techniques and development of in vitro functional assays.

* Ability to balance collaboration and independence to efficiently design, execute, and interpret critical experiments.

* Proven track record of scientific accomplishment including generating publication quality data and contributing to manuscript or patent preparation.

* Highly developed oral and written communication skills.

Preferred skills and experience

* Demonstrate proficiency in Neuroscience and/or Genomics.

* Expertise with Omics methods, including tissue processing and library preparation for spatial, single-cell or nuclei Omics data generation.

* Experience with Omics data interaction and interpretation using bioinformatic tools, such as R and python.

* Experience with flow cytometry.

* Experience with Neuroscience specific functional genomics tools for gene validation, e.g. viral vector-mediated knock-down or CRISPR/cas9 methods, viral vector delivered reporter genes, optogenetics, or chemogenetics.
