GDIT is seeking a Principal Network Engineer to ensure the stability, integrity, and availability of the networking infrastructure and associated services within the Pentagon and surrounding locations. This position will support DISA Joint Service Provider on the Enterprise Transport Management (ETM) program. Due to the type of access this role will entail, telecommuting is not allowed.
The Principal Network Engineer is responsible for the design and development of voice, video, radio-frequency, and/or data communications networks. Job duties may include but are not limited to:
* Configure and install various network devices and services
* Monitor network performance and resource utilization, trending, capacity planning
* Use of current and emergent network design principles and protocols
* Analyze voice, video, radio-frequency, and/or data communications networks, including planning, designing, evaluating, selecting, and upgrading operating systems and protocol suites and configuring communication media with concentrators, bridges, and other devices
* Plan network layouts and configure systems to user environments
* Analyze network topologies and traffic and capacity requirements
* Support the acquisition of hardware and software as well as subcontractor services as needed
* May provide technical support and troubleshooting to users
* May perform network administration duties
* Provide guidance and work leadership to less-experienced network personnel
* Maintain current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
* Active Top Secret clearance
* DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (i.e. Security + CE, etc)
* CCNA certification
* Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Engineering OR equivalent experience can be considered in lieu of degree
* 10+ years of experience in network administration/engineering
* 5+ years of operating, troubleshooting, installing network routers and switches and designing, architecting routed and switched networks
* 2+ years as senior or lead engineer in planning, designing, and building software defined networks
* 3+ years in DoD environment
* Experience with network virtualization technologies
* Experience with multi-tenant network architectures
* Familiarity with a width variety network routing and switching equipment devices from multiple vendors
* Scripting languages such as Pearl, Python, coding for network threshold events.
* Able to report onsite as indicated above
