Reporting to the Executive Director, Business Technology U.S. Commercial, the Associate Director for U.S. Commercial Operations Architect will oversee the technology platforms that enable the U.S. Commercial Business Operations. These platforms include Veeva Nitro, Veeva Network, Veeva Align, Veeva MyInsights, and commercial analytics.

The Commercial Operations Architect is a strategic role that will require a combination of strong Business acumen and, Technical skills. The role will require an Enterprise Leader with excellent communication skills along with strong experience in leading large-scale technology programs.

We are seeking energetic, forward-thinking professionals to join our Commercial Business Technology team in a period of exciting change as we launch a new Life Sciences company. You will have the opportunity to work at a global organization collaborating with Business Leadership to identify overall architecture, coordination, and implementation of technology solutions that enable the commercial business strategy.

The Commercial Operations Architect will be responsible for managing and delivering IT and business solutions leveraging strategic partnerships, internal resources, and software suppliers.
Primary activities include, but are not limited to:

* Leadership: Provide leadership and direction for cross-functional teams/suppliers in both program design and execution.

* Strategy Development/Implementation: Accountable for the development of detailed architecture diagrams, technology roadmaps, and long-term strategies in support of the Business strategy.

* Supplier Management: Collaborate with supplier and internal stakeholders (e.g. Legal, Procurement, etc.) on contract terms, measurement of terms including pricing, licensing, renewal, support, proposals, etc..

* Continuous Improvement: Ensure that each supplier relationship is established with a bias for continuous improvement. Support development and monitoring of key performance indicators along with internal stakeholders and support team to demonstrate.

* Change Management: Utilize project, program, and change management skills to manage and drive change both internally and externally for product releases.

* Technology Landscape: Leverages deep understanding of technical advancements, product roadmaps, and how they align or support evolving business needs. Develop keen insights on near term as well as long-term horizon.

Primary job responsibilities include:

* Collaborate with business partners and relevant platform leads to inform the annual planning process including timing, costs, resources, and prioritization

* Ensure that operational support metrics are continually assessed with key stakeholders, business leaders, support operations, and partners to agreed-upon service levels.

* Accountable for ensuring the development of complete and accurate business requirements, detailed technical construction plans, and functional requirement specifications in addition to other supporting SDLC documentation

* Accountable for ensuring that project teams are actively managing project resources, quality, budgets, status, issues, risks, metrics, deliverables, and milestones.

* Full responsibility for the supplier management and oversight for the full lifecycle: definition, approach, facilitation and satisfactory completion of medium and large-scale projects (with direct business impact and firm deadlines)

* Provide effective leadership to project team and take appropriate action where team performance deviates from agreed tolerances.

* Manage relationships with third-party vendors and partners including supporting the identification of new partners through Procurement led RFPs

* Collaborate across IT, Business stakeholders, Partners to initiate, implement, and support technology programs in supporting U.S. Commercial Operations.

Required:

* B.S. degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related business field

* The candidate should have 10+ years of relevant experience managing project delivery/deployment teams or leading external suppliers

* Strong leadership skills with track record of success managing large IT projects with solid SDLC practices

* Global/regional software deployment experience with cross-functional teams

* Strong problem solving abilities and comfortable working in ambiguous, time-pressured situations, with multiple stakeholders

* Strong interpersonal, networking, influencing, and relationship-building skills and the ability to navigate cross-culturally with wide array of stakeholders, internally and externally.

* Demonstrated leadership and experience managing people and suppliers

* Superior written, listening, communication and influencing skills

* Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a geographically disbursed environment

* Experience of different ways of working and delivery methodologies iterative, agile, Kanban

* Experience working with structured and unstructured data across the commercial environment (sales, marketing, digital etc.) and supporting the use of these types of data with key Business stakeholders

* Experience of working closely with onshore/nearshore/offshore teams and clients.

* Demonstrated ability to have successfully completed multiple, complex technical projects

* Leadership and team management experience with ability to provide strategic planning and oversight.

* Possess talent for handling shifting priorities / demands / timelines and effectively executing tasks in a high-pressure environment. It is crucial that candidate be able to react to project adjustments and alterations promptly and efficiently

Preferred

* Demonstrated experience in designing data focused solution architecture for major global organization

* Experience with Veeva technology stack

* Experience with Data Warehousing concepts and solutions

* Experience with Commercial Analytic tools

* Experience with Amazon Web Services including Redshift

* Experience deploying integrated data ecosystems highly preferred

* Familiarity with laws, rules, and regulations applicable to Pharma industry highly desirable

* Other regulated industry experience will also be considered

* Ability to lead without authority, and manage up, down, and across large, matrixed organizations

* Prior experience in designing and implementing cloud computing and/or web-based solutions and be familiar
