The Staffing Coordinator coordinates nursing staff coverage to ensure that all shifts are staffed adequately. This is accomplished by working with the Unit Directors/Managers to make adjustments as needed according to budgetary constraints, census fluctuations, call-ins, and pre-planned leaves of absence. This position will update and assist in balancing the nursing units schedules, keep Kronos changes up to date and maintain, update and other wise assist with productivity data. Obtains daily staffing information from the nursing units. Coordinates staffing on a projected and shift by shift basis, pulling and analyzing reports. Collects and maintains data for key indicators specific to patient flow. Collaborates with Nurse Managers, Patient Care Leaders, Patient Care Managers, and Directors to analyze and act upon collected data. Operate as System Administrator for Avantas Facility scheduler and Avantas Business Intelligence. Analyzes, tests and documents data for Avantas. Responsible for planning, developing & implementing training of nursing and non-nursing staff for Avantas scheduler, Avantas Business Intelligence. Keeps current with principals and practices, technology, regulations and standards that apply to scheduling. Other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions

Determines, coordinates and supervises daily staffing assignments and levels.

Provides direction, orientation, training, coaching, and mentoring to staff. Performs or assists with performance evaluations and disciplinary actions.

Assesses and ensures quality of services delivered and facilitates staff development programs. Ensures staff compliance with departmental and organizational policies, procedures, and protocols.

Performs staff responsibilities as needed to fulfill required service levels.

Leads the handling and resolution of complex issues and complaints.

Operates as hospital system administrator for Avantas Facility Scheduler and serves as the primary resource for Avantas.
Operates as hospital system administrator for Avantas Business Intelligence and coordinates with financial depart for ongoing monitoring. Assessments of Avantas Business Intelligence include evaluations for the need of operational process change with Avantas Scheduler.

Demonstrates ability to plan, develop and implement new project roll outs related to Avantas Facility Scheduler.

Acts as a Customer Service representative in the investigation and resolution of software problems within 24 hours and provides timely support services to the departments on Avantas modules, including outside normal business hours if necessary.
Supports users in the implementation of enhancements, upgrades and/or new software modules.
Coordinates and delivers new employee orientation related to appropriate access as needed in conjunction with Clinical Informaticist for Avantas and recognizes the need for ongoing training when software tools are not being maximized or used correctly.

Able to assess the need for process changes to support implementation with Unit Directors for Avantas Facility Scheduler and Avantas Business Intelligence and redesign processes as needed based on evaluations.

Supports users in implementation of enhancements, upgrades and/or new software modules with Avantas.

Job Requirements

Minimum Education Required
Associate degree

Preferred Work Experience
Management and/or Supervisory

If required to drive on company time, must have valid Drivers License and Proof of valid insurance.

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must have strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. Effective human relations skills are required for interfacing with team members, all levels of staff, physicians, patients, families and other contacts. Must possess the ability to effectively function in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Demonstrates strong leadership skills in solving problems and resolving conflict.. Must possess the ability to use the following equipment; Telephone/Overhead Paging System/Fax Machine/Calculator/Computer. As pertinent to the position, must be able to use computer, telephone, calculator and adapt to new technology as it becomes available and necessary for the job. Must have a positive attitude, even temperament in stress/conflict situations.
